It was a terrific experience. My wife and I never had dinner on the beach before. The view is amazing. And the food is exceptional. Brian's service is excellent too.

We weren't sure of our schedule, but we knew, based on the reviews, that we wanted to try Passions on the Beach, so we reserved a table for our last night before we left for Aruba. And what a great way to toast a great vacation! The food was fabulous, the service was attentive and the scenery spectacular capped off by one of the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen. We ended up staying there for four hours! There are other places to dine on the beach, but this is the one not to miss!

Passions on the Beach was right next to the hotel we were staying at. We had lunch at the beach bar on two occasions, along with some drinks. We were not at all impressed - $16 for small, overcooked shrimp is just not ok. Oh, and they add a 15% service charge. They have a variety of cocktails, but all are made from boxed juices and purees, not fresh fruit/juice. However, despite mediocre experience at lunch, we decided to try the place on our last day in Aruba for dinner at the beach with the sunset. We made a reservation at 6:30, 20 min before the sunset. Our waiter, Bryan, asked what we wanted to drink, and after we did not order alcohol, must have decided that we were not worth wasting his time. He brought out some toasted bread with salsa and left. The salsa had a hair in it, but since it is windy there, we did not make a big deal out of it - things happen. I was hoping to get a photo with the sunset before the sun actually set, but was unable to get anyone's attention until it was too late! The waiter kept going around us. Finally we asked another waiter to take a photo, which she did and was nice about it, but it was too late at that point. Finally our waiter came by and took our order. He was not overly friendly. We ordered the creamy seafood soup, the special (grilled snapped and shrimp) and grilled shrimp with mango chutney. The soup arrived and was actually pretty good. The waiter stopped by briefly twice and both times asked how the soup was (it was still the same soup!). Then our plates arrived. My "grilled" snapped was covered in some egg batter and had three small shrimp on top. Luckily, I asked for the sauce in the side as it was not very good. The fish and shrimp were tasteless and the texture was mushy. It was edible, but definitely not something I would call a good meal. My husband's shrimp were disgusting. They were small (not jumbo or Tiger) and definitely were not grilled. They were chewy and tasted like they were cooked in a tomato broth at best. On top was mango chutney which very much resembled the salsa that came with the bread. The special was in the $40s and shrimp $31. The food was not good at all, but the worse was the level of service we received. The waiter was borderline rude and hardly stopped by. We had to ask other waiters for bread and drinks on several occasions. We finished our meal quickly and left. We cook a lot and know what quality food tastes like. This was not the case at Passions. You are better off sitting on the beach and eating a sandwich! It is a pretty view, but food is not worth it. If you want a good tasting meal and nice, friendly atmosphere, go to Gostoso in Oranjestad!

This was our first trip to Aruba and this restaurant was the best food and atmosphere. Very romantic. Got a front row table on the beach. Super service and food. A must for your trip.
