“First day brunch”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Wife and I ate first day brunch here. A good layout with a large crowd. My favorite areas were the seafood and deserts. Service somewhat stilted.

“Ruinas is Ruined”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

This was our fifth time dining at Ruinas del Mar. We’ve always enjoyed it in the past and we were looking forward to another good dining experience. We were disappointed to say the least; Ruinas has been “kicked off” our favorite Aruba restaurant list and put on our “never return” list.
The restaurant had just been opened after a renovation- the black swans were missing, the staff seemed lost, the service was subpar- so maybe our bad experience could be attributed to “lack of practice”?
For our appetizers, we ordered Sopi Fruta del Mar (too salty to eat), the Dutch Potato Soup, and the Ruinas Chop Salad. After an “ok” start, it went downhill. For dinner, everything we ordered was overcooked and dry. The Cigar Box Cedar Salmon - the salmon was overcooked. The Shellfish Paella - the lobster was chewy. The Hearth Roasted Breast of Chicken - overcooked protein... (noticing a trend?). It was as if our food had been cooked and sat under hot lamps instead of being brought to our table. The restaurant wasn’t crowded at all, there were no excuse.
We won’t be returning to Ruinas del Mar any time soon - overcooked seafood leaves a funny taste in your mouth.

“Good food, cool layout/design”
Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

Food was very good and the newly remodeled restaurant had a very cool layout. Order the grouper; fresh and nicely seasoned.

“Very pleasant experience”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

Enjoyed a lovely dining experience sitting outside by the pond. Felt the food was good but based on our 6 night dining experience, ranked it below Aqua Grill, Madame Janette and Papillon.

“Sunday brunch - unclear what the hype is about”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

We were disappointed on the whole.
Here's the good = there is an amazing selection of options. Legitimately impressive. If I were ranking that only, we'd be up into 4 territory.

Here's the less good = nothing is truly bad in quality (let's say, 3), but also, nothing is really stand-out, and for the price you'll pay, it should be. To be fair, with such a huge spread, we didn't try everything, but, what we did was broad enough to be representative.

Atmosphere - I think if you get one of the tables with views it's probably quite nice. But most of them don't.

Service - honestly, the greeters were rude, the drink monitors and food monitors inconsistent. The ladies making omelettes were lovely though.

If you've never done a diverse Sunday brunch, perhaps go, definitely likely to be better early or maybe somewhat better late, don't go peak time.

If you've done a diverse Sunday brunch before, better to avoid. There are better options for far less.
