Had a really wonderful trip to Brechfa. Hosts were great! Bathroom very little in bike shed so if your not a fan of wet rooms opt for another cottage. Would visit again, with extra waterproofs!
For ages I have tried to find somewhere to holiday with the pooches, but always been nervous as they aren't always angels and everywhere is quite pricey (when you think of cheap holidays abroad). But am I glad I stumbled across this Facebook page ...
We stayed in The Old Bike Shed which is just the cutest, quirkiest little cottage! The views from the patio doors are stunning and honestly you forget the rest of the world exists as it is just green fields for miles!
Nikki and Jason are just amazing hosts, friendly and welcoming and ultimately are dog-friendly people (some people only like their own dogs!) and as for Nikki's food, well it is to die for! I don't care if I've put on a stone just over the weekend, it was worth every mouthful!
So we just want to reiterate the last review (who were a lovely couple to share a cider or 2 with ) that we want to keep it a secret but it's too lovely to keep to ourselves! We're hoping to see you again this year for a longer stay!
Thanks again guys, you've got a fab place set up there!
We have just returned from a lovely stress-free weekend with the feeling of wishing we could have stayed longer. I think that speaks volumes.
A most welcomed break in the most idyllic setting with views that literally take your breath away.
Brechfa Forest Barns is most certainly the place where you can escape from it all and relax with your loved ones, especially the four legged fluffy fur babies.
And it's not only the exterior views that are eye catching, so is the interior of the barns which are tastefully decorated with both a homely and warm feeling. The log burner in Bay Tree Barn was just a delight, all cwtched up on the sofa and embracing it's warmth.
Hosts Nikki and Jason have most certainly worked wonders in creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I would say it is very much the feeling of 'make yourself at home'; along with the hearty cuisine that Nikki provides it all adds that something extra special to the experience.
We almost don't want to tell people about this little peace of heaven and just keep Brechfa a secret. But we would be doing you a disservice.
Thank you Nikki and Jason we shall hopefully see you very soon.
What an amazing retreat, lovely people, fab food, stunning scenery, will definitely go back , can't wait to go back.
From initial enquiry to our amazing stay it became very clear that nothing was too much for Nikki and every requirement that we could possibly have would be met.
It was a special occasion so Nikki suggested that presents and decorations could be sent directly there and she even offered to put them up.
The pre ordered chocolate cake (very recommended) was shaped into a heart and it was these little touches that meant so much.
Being able to have the dogs with us just made the experience even better - it is truly a dog friendly stay.
Food intolerances were thought about without reminder and the menu was outstanding! Truly delicious food and it was sooo nice not to have to worry about cooking or going shopping.
One evening our plans changed (not our fault) and despite not ordering food that evening as soon as Nikki found out she offered to cook for us and food was with us within an hour.
The bike shed was quirky, cute and a lot of fun. Be prepared for a ladder climb too and from bed but very hilarious after a glass or two of wine!
Every detail had been thought of by Nikki and having such detail made our day trips easy to decide on and there was no stress around choosing where to visit and what to do.
The weather wasn't kind to us but what do you expect mid November? But that just made the barn, fire, board games and delicious food even more perfect - whilst watching the storms from the window across the outstanding views.
Will we be back? Most definitely and our only regret was not being there for longer, bringing our mountain bikes and kite buggies.
Thank you so much.
This was our second time at the Brechfa Forrest Barns and we enjoyed it twice as much. Nickki and Jason are just such nice hosts and nothing is too much trouble. the barns are so clean and cosy and tastefully decorated. We stayed with our 5 dogs and the walking is just so good, we also found an 8 mile beach at Pembury dogs not allowed May to October but great place if you have kids loads to do there. Lots of super walks near by. Don't hesitate to book this place it is so peaceful and views to die for with great hosts. thanks for a great stay we will be back XX
This is the third time here and we still have not seen or walked all the sites, a perfect and peaceful place and it help that you can order food to be cooked for you by the wonderful Nikki. We had a lovely dinner on the first night which saves finding somewhere or cooking yourself. All the good places where you can take your dog get booked up very quickly, so I have already booked for next year, if you do not want to be disappointed you better do the same.
