Finally, a good place to eat in Aruba. We found the island lacking in general, but Barefoot was like the oasis in the desert.
The setting is beautiful, even at night. Everyone had their shoes off, except the waitress, sand working between our toes, and the boats bobbing just off of the beach provided distraction in moments of quiet.
But really, why eat out except for the food? Everything was superb. The squid rings were an area of concern, being so large, until I had the first. Then I was reassured that they were tender and flavorful, and the curry dip was light and complemented them well. The tuna duo was a mix of a carpaccio of very fresh tuna with a tartar that was outstanding. My wife _never_ cleans her plate....well, never before!
She had the Shellfish Trio and I the Peppered Tuna, both delicious. Normally I am not a fan of teriyaki sauces, but was impressed by this one.
We even had dessert and coffee. Including wine for both and tip our tab was $165, better than most places on the island that we ate, but this is the only place to which I would willingly return. Bon appetite!
