Description: Aruba is all about the fabulous beaches during the day, and the many great restaurants at night. It is only logical that these two unique things of Aruba are combined into one! Luc & Gerco found the perfect spot to synergize great food, and a beautiful setting to create an experience almost unique on our island. When listening to the ocean caressing the shore, while wiggling your toes through the pearly white sand, why not let yourself be pampered by a gourmet dinner? Chef Gerco & Maitre d' Luc had a shared dream of opening up a restaurant here, but wanted something in line with what they enjoy on Aruba: the nearly perfect climate, the possibility to always be outside, the tropical feel... When opening their restaurant, they had these ideas in their heads, and it worked like a charm! Tables under a large palapa on a wooden deck with a view of the ocean, or outside under the Aruban nights sky, on the pristine beach... An original menu was created by Gerco and team, with some of the old school favorites as well as locally influenced dishes. With the help of the local wine suppliers, Luc made an extensive wine list, with wines from all over the world, and is always ready to pair a wine with your dinner. The experienced service team is friendly yet professional, ready to wow you from the moment you walk in, to make a fabulous evening into a great memory on Aruba!

“Thank you, God!”

Finally, a good place to eat in Aruba. We found the island lacking in general, but Barefoot was like the oasis in the desert.

The setting is beautiful, even at night. Everyone had their shoes off, except the waitress, sand working between our toes, and the boats bobbing just off of the beach provided distraction in moments of quiet.

But really, why eat out except for the food? Everything was superb. The squid rings were an area of concern, being so large, until I had the first. Then I was reassured that they were tender and flavorful, and the curry dip was light and complemented them well. The tuna duo was a mix of a carpaccio of very fresh tuna with a tartar that was outstanding. My wife _never_ cleans her plate....well, never before!

She had the Shellfish Trio and I the Peppered Tuna, both delicious. Normally I am not a fan of teriyaki sauces, but was impressed by this one.

We even had dessert and coffee. Including wine for both and tip our tab was $165, better than most places on the island that we ate, but this is the only place to which I would willingly return. Bon appetite!

“Great Find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

Located in the old Marandi's Restaurant location, this new owner made it even better. They put tables out in the sand and doubled the capacity. The service was very good and the food competes with all the best restaurants on the Island. Don't miss the lobster cappachino soup. They were out of their beef burgundy main course but their shellfish trio made up for it. Get there by 6 pm and sit outside and watch the cruise ships leave the downtown port and sail off into the sunset.

“Perfect!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

Due to a flight mix up, we found ourselves in Aruba. Yes, that sounds like a dream come true, but we were without any knowledge of the area and were on foot. We wandered into this restaurant and did not have reservations. The gentleman at the entrance was friendly, found us a table on the beach by the water, and then became our server. The menu is extensive and the prices are average for a resort area. Our appetizers arrived soon after our Mojito's and both were outstanding. We didn't feel rushed, enjoyed our front row seat to the beautiful sun set, and had one of the best meals we had the 11 days we were in a couple different islands in the area.

The atmophere, service, and food were perfect!

“Great Ambiance But Food Fell Short”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

I had high expectations for Barefoot as I'd heard so many "rave reviews". We dined at Barefoot for the first time last week with a group of friends. While seaside dining is a favourite of mine, so the ambiance is wonderful, the food definitely wasn't worth the trip. The scallop appetizer was terrible, undercooked and flavourless. The pamesan crusted grouper was quite good, but the portion was very small and came with about a tablespoon of watery mashed potatoes and a few vegetables. The "beef stew" entree my husband was a good portion, but bland. Many of our groups entrees were very small portion wise.
With so many seaside dining options available in the high rise area where we stay on the island, it is unlikely we will ever make the trip back to Barefoot. Taxi from high-rise is $20.
