Tamarijn Resort -All Inclusive was a really nice place to stay for all ages. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and lots of pillows in the room. Right on the Beach! I can't say that enough times! our view was awesome and to be right on the beach was fantastic. The food was great, dinner was never repeated, and our dinner at the Red Parrot was phenomenal.
I used cheapcaribbean.com to book our trip...also great, no problems at all.

We decided to go with an all inclusive becuase we were travelling with three teenagers and the Tamarijn had all of the activities that the kids were interested in as well as the ease of mealtimes with food readily available. We thought that the restaurants were good and tried Paparrazi, Fusion and The Red Parrott twice. Our group preferred The Red Parrott but we also liked the Asian restaurant, Fusion as well. The pizza bar and nearby ice cream machine were a definite kids favorite. We thought that the service was great all around as well as friendly. Our rooms were small but basically we were in them to sleep so it was not a problem. We had a bottom level room in the 1900 block which was 10 steps to the beach and 25 steps to the Bunker Bar which made the sunny afternoons much cooler. The drinks of the day were awesome and the liquor selection was very good for an all inclusive. Snorkeling was great straight out from the room and we also used the kayaks, rock climb and bicycles. They were building palapas daily which was nice but, as the other reviews have stated, the early bird gets the palapas and some days you had to get up VERY early to get what you wanted. There seemed to be a very mixed bag of travelers staying there including retirees, families with kids and young couples as well. Our group was already discussing going back there before we left. In short, the Tamarijn was GREAT!!!

Just returned from Tamrijin today! I got I think a pretty good deal on CheapCarribean.com...about $250/night for 2. Given prices in Aruba, this was a great deal. This is a good choice for families with children and retirees because of the all-inclusiveness. Food was ok, Red Parrot only really good restaurant available. Not sure the Divi is worth the difference in price, so stick to Tam if on a budget. Rooms were clean, but old. Our room had a few problems including a leaking airconditioner and a continuously running toilet. The sink stopper continuously got stuck. They were very accomodating when you called, but given our short stay we didn't bother calling in for every problem. Biggest complaint was no early check-in on first day. We arrived at 1:30pm and they didn't allow us to check into 3pm....first time EVER for us.

First of all, this was an enjoyable vacation. The majority of the staff are friendly and hard working. However, I cannot recommend this resort. My fiances diamond earrings and our ipod nano were stolen from our room toward the end of our stay. We had purchased the key to the safe and kept everything in one of her purses and always put the purse in the safe before we left. Somehow both items were stolen from room!! We notified the front desk when we checked out, as we didnt find out until our last day. When we got home we made several follow-up calls to the resort and were given only email addresses to the General Manager and the Head of Security. We sent separate emails to each individual detailing our accounts of what happened because for insurance purposes we needed to have a record of the complaint. Neither person responded. THAT is totally unacceptable. The fact that the two people "in charge" could not even muster up a few sentences to acknowledge our complaint is astounding. It's not like we were looking for an admission of guilt and a credit for our stay. We simply just needed one of them to acknowledge it. So even though we had a positive experience with 100 other staff members, the individual (presumably the maid staff) and the two supervisors in charge made the end of our vacation such a bad experience that I would recommend that no one go there, due to the security risks that you take. It simply is not worth losing something valuable, or even worse, physical harm. I would not risk it again, even for the "value" of the resort. Funny thing is, had we gotten a response from one of the two supervisors I would not be nearly as negative. Also, as another guest reviewed the beds definitely do have some type of bed bug/ant. My fiance and I both had mysterious bite marks each morning. Guests beware!! Spend your money somewhere else!!

We just completed a weeks stay at the Tamarijn with our two kids 13 and 11. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to the Tam! My thought is that anyone disappointed with the Tam did NOT do enough research to know what to expect. I had read several reviews here, so feel like I got exactly what I expected.

We had an upstairs room in building 13. The rooms are very basic, but clean and comfortable. If you are expecting something really fancy, then you will be disappointed. We were basically only in our room to shower and sleep, so didn't need anything fancier.

Food:

We found the food to be pretty decent. The buffets can be hit or miss, but there was never a buffett that I didnt find something that was VERY GOOD. The beef kabobs the first night were fantastic. Our favorite restaurants were Red Parrot and Ginger... everything we tried at both places were excellent. The palm grill was pretty good too - and cooking your own food was a fun treat for the kids. The only restaurant we didnt like so much was Papparazzi - though I had the beef tenderloin with ravioli and it was excellent. Unfornutately my wifes chicken dish was awful and they ruined my youngest daughters prime rib (special of the night) by drowning it in brown gravy. So if you go there - stick to the beef tenderloin - it honestly might have been one of my favorite meals.

Staff:

We found the staff to be very friendly...we spent a lot of time snacking at the Pizza Per Tutti snack bar and got to know the regulars there (Andrea is great.....). At times the bars could be crowded and you have to be assertive to get your orders - just dont be afraid to shout out what you want - they do hear you! I would say they could perhaps use another bartender at times. They do not have waiters around the pool or beach - so if you want that, you will be disappointed.... Frankly the beaches are devoid of people I don't know how you could justify wait staff there and the pool has a bar on either side of it.

Beach:

We drove by the high rise hotels several times - the beaches are packed... I prefer the Tam - where you would have sections of beach all to yourself. I guess the surf can vary - but during our week, it was calm - very calm! In fact our one complaint from the kids was that we had no waves to boogie board on most days. A few mornings it was so calm the water was that perfect bright blue color you see on the Corona commercials. The best waves were consistently to the right of the bunker bar in front of building 17.

Their isn't a ton of good snorkeling by the hotel, but out in front of the bunker bar you will find some sealife - lots of starfish in the seaweed beds. I do wish the snorkeling had been better at the hotel area as its one of my favorite things to do. Fortunately its a short drive up to Arasha, boca catalina and malmok.

Other:

One of the things we really liked about the Tam was that it was small enough that you had ample opportunity to meet other people. Our kids made new friends to play with throughout the week. You wouldn't get that opportunity at the high rises.

Entertainment:

SOme of the nightly shows were just ok, others were very good! The couples black and white contest was an absolute riot (though a bit racy).

Complaints:

Internet - free wifi through the complex or at least in the lobby is a reasonable expectation in 2010.
Toiletries - real soap and shampoo would be expected too. I knew ahead of time and brought some, but for the price, really they should provide it.

Tips:

Avoid building 14 if the noise from nightly activities would bother you. Also I'd stay away from the buildings on the end - the vacant lot next door isnt very appealing and you are too far from the action.
Buildings 11,12,13 have parking right out front if you are renting a car.
The front desk will change big bills should you want ones and fives to tip the staff with.

this place was gross ants marching in the room and by the last night they were on the bed, my 9 year old had nothing to do they have no kids club and all they do around the pool is play bingo, there is nothing for children to do they had nightly shows but they were a waste of good sleep people dancing around night after night is not fun for a 9yo, the food was ok not worth it for the money, this resort is with out doubt for an older couple, not at all for your children they will have nothing to do. you will get a nice dark tan :)
