“Ocean-Front, all-inclusive and friendly... any questions??”
Reviewed November 13, 2011

Lets get the very SMALL negatives out of the way for those of you that have had experiences with Secrets, Sandals and other all-inclusive resorts. The food is definitely average, there are no waiters that serve you by the pool or on the beach, there is no mini-fridge in your room and you have to endure your stay with a cloth wristband clipped on 24 hours a day.
If you have read this far then you are still interested... good thing.

The GOOD includes

The restaurants The Red Parrot, The Palm Grill and the Paparazzi were very good, the Ginger seemed average but the atmosphere was excellent and the service is excellent everywhere.
Make reservations upon arrival, they must be done at the concierge prior to 4pm .. see IRIS she was fabulous. The food and drink manager is Nick Rudolph and he was excellent to deal with as well. You will be full and happy wherever you eat, even Pizza per Tuti even though it is fast food and should be taken at that.

The bars open a decent amount of hours and the drinks are not made for the "faint of heart"
Once again bartenders are very friendly. The Bunker Bar is basically on the ocean and is great for music as well but no food is served there. There is no pool bar.

The room is either a king or a double queen with a sliding door that is directly on the beach, step out early and place a couple towels on a location and you are set. <People wake up early at EVERY resort and you'll have to do the same here> You will be literally 10 steps to the sand and 60 steps to the water, all evils are cured when you look through the sliding door and see the sand and clear water THAT CLOSE, absolutely impeccable.

Climbing rock over at the DIVI was cool, the wife liked it, make reservations by 10am.
Water sports include wind-sailing(2) no aqua bikes, kayaks or catamarans. (Which was also pretty weak)

All restaurants and activities at the DIVI are also included so it’s like you get 2 resorts (side by side) for the price of one.

The casino smells like smoke and is poorly ventilated but we ended up winning every night we hope you do as well. Table minimums are $5 all day and night so that seemed reasonable.

Pools are decent sized with 2 hot tubs in the Tam. They did look cooler at the DIVI so if you are looking for pools you can go there as well.

To sum is all up, for this price and being able to stay in a room that is ocean-front, the Tam. can't be beaten. We will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 2300 block are further from the restaurants but offer rennovated bathrooms and a more p...

what a perfect get away! Wonderful people and great resort! We came for my birthday and the staff at the Tamarijn made it perfect for me again!! We had a wonderful maid, like usual, who knew it was my birthday and decorated the room in flowers and decorated towels! The meals were awesome, as usual. We went to Papparazzi restaurant for my birthday dinner and had wonderful food, wine and even a surprise birthday cake with the entire waitstaff and cooks singing to me! I felt so special.
We set up a few island tours at the concierge desk with the best coordinator in Aruba, Iris! Anything you need, she is the lady to see. She not only make dinner reservations at the Tam and at the Divi, but she will set you up with any reservations anywhere on the island and suggest and set up any and all sightseeing tours and excursions for you. We booked a sunset cruise (again..love that one) and we booked Discover Aruba. We had an awesome driver who answered all our questions and was so funny! His name was Johan, or the "okey-dokey man"! Any tour you take, ask for this guy! He is great! Iris suggested a great restaurant off property that had a great Sunday brunch. The name was "the Promenade", and it had an all you can eat brunch with as much as you can drink champagne or mimosa's. you order two small selections at a time and when you are finished those, they promptly clear your dishes and take your order for the next round of two dishes. You can do this for hours!! The food was superb! A great deal and great price!
The queen and her family were on the island when we were there. That was so exciting. There is always something new to do and see in Aruba. Of course, the beach is perfect at the Tamarijn. every single room faces the ocean and you practically have the beach to yourself daily. Also, a huge selling point for me is that I don't have to run out early in the morning to "save a spot". There is plenty of room and it is 47 steps from the bed to the water! Now that is heaven to me! It is a great value for the money. Not a fancy High rise, but you don't have to use an elevator to go to the beach, or walk through a lobby to "save" a spot early in the morning! Definitely perks for me!

Room Tip: if you want a room with a little grass before sand then ask for a room 1600 block or higher. If you...

Buffet food not so great, but adequate and plentiful. Great drinks. Relax and don't be in a hurry, no one else is. Pizza at snack bar awesome. Perfect location, on beach, close to town, far from high rises, safe and friendly. Great resort for families. Loved it, will definitely return!

Room Tip: Ask for the 1100 building...far enuf away from bar & pool to avoid the noise and hear the surf...

We flew to Aruba with First CHoice from the UK for 2 weeks at the Tamarijn, probably paying about £1300 each in the middle of the UK summer holidays - Augsut 2011. 2 adults and 2 kids - aged 12 and 4.
Check in was done on the coach from the airport which was really helpful. they label all the bags to your rooms directly so as soon as you arrive at the hotel you get yourself straight to the room.

As a guest here you are welcome to use the Divi Aruba - about 400m North accessed by a walk along the beach, or a shuttle. Also the Dutch village, which is self catering backing on to the south end of the Tamarijn. And also the Liks which is a timeshare type place, again accessed by shuttle. This one is not included in the all inclusive though
This totals 7 pools I think...maybe more!! as well as 2 buffet restaurants and 4 a la carte restaurants

The pools were all great - great fun. They all vary in depth, some have jacuzzi's, slides etc. Usually enough sunbeds around the pool,

Sunbeds on the beach but be prepared to set your alarm for 5am!!! The beach is wonderful, really pretty white sand. The sea is clear and generally flat. There are some rocks but its great for swimming!

The hotel hires free floats for use in the sea and pool.. Remember to return by 5pm otherwise youre fined!! Also snorkelling equiptment

To book the a la carte you will need to queue from 9am at concierge, 48 before the booking. As long as youre arent fussy about times you can usually get at least one
Red PArrot - My favourite. Delicious menu including seafood, steaks, soups and delicious puddings. Great view over the sea so get a sunset booking. Kids menu
Palm grill - very hot!!! You get to grill your own food in the heated area central to the table! Weird but tasty
Italian - The air con was very COLD!!!! Great service and yummy food choices. Kids menu
Asian - delciious choices, air conditioned. No kids menu

Snacks bars in both hotels offer snacks from 11am 1am!!! pizza was delcious as were chips and nuggets and help yourself ice creams!!

The two buffet restaurants were great. The food is the same at both each day. Every day there is a theme eg steak and fish or mexican. Loads of choices always something to choose from, salads, soups, breads, I wasnt keen on the desserts as they seemed the same each day - bright coloured and sugary!!!

Loved the bars too. Cocktails all day every day (for adults and kids) and plenty of ice to keep the drinks cool. Balashi is Arubas beer, they have plenty of fizzy drinks too. In the main bars you can help yourself to coke/sprite etc.
Each night there is a show, often two, a market twice per week

As for the room....
I specifically requested a ground floor room 3 days prior to arriving...I didnt get it ;-(
However the whole hotel is only two storeys. We had a balcony to watch the sunset. The room had two king beds, wardrobe, drawers and a couple of chairs. It was quite a squish with all 4 of us but it worked fine. Tv with sky. Basic bathroom but it all worked! Clean towels daily and we often asked for extra which was fine

You will get towel vouchers for the pool towels. You can swap them as many times each day as you like

Kids clubs and plenty of activities in the hotel although we didnt take part. They have bicycles to rent, rock climbing, pool games....lots of fun

Aruba is a beautiful island. Augsut is very hot and humid so we didnt do a great deal. However we hired a car from Hertz at reception for a day - $50 for a small car with air con!! We explored the island easily in a day

First choice offer tours (as always) They were very expensive and we were able to do them ourselves hiring a car - would recommend baby beach, carnival in the south of the island, trip to the lighhouse and an evening at the high rise area

We also popped to Oranjestaad whcih was fun for some shopping, there are casions and the cruise ships to see. Plenty of shoppig to do ;-)

A short walk from the hotel is a supermarket and a weekend market, as well as toursit shops.

The hotel has a small shopping parade with a hairdressers/beauty salon, perfume shop, jeweleery shop, supermarket type and toursit shops - they were reasonably priced

Overall we had a fantastic holiday. Tamarijn was beautiful, mainly for the beach front rooms, amazing sunsets and laid back atmosphere

LOVED IT

Kind of late writing my review, but we stayed at the Tamarijn in April of 2010 and had a great time. The room was basic, but wonderfully placed on the beach and always clean. Never had a problem with any of the staff; everyone was always very helpful and courteous. Always lots to sign up for whether it be on the premises, downtown or elsewhere on the island. The only thing that was a bit of a downside for us was that the food at the buffet was more geared to American cuisine rather than the traditional food of the island, BUT to others that may be a good thing. It was a perfect place to lay back, relax and get away from it all.

First time visiting Aruba and what a lovely island. Loved how safe it is to come out of your resort day or night and there is so much to do from relaxing round your pool to skydiving 10,000ft! Went as a family of 4 with two girls aged 7 and 6. Tamarijn was perfect for them as they meet lots of children and it is directly of Druiff Beach. We did ask to move rooms as half of the rooms have had the bathrooms updated and we wasn't given one of these on arrival. They were happy to move us once one came available which was for the entire second week. Aruba is very laid back so don't expect to be served immediately it's just their way. We did everything from jet ski, water doughnuts, skydiving, de palm island, horse back riding, baby beach to the casinos. Our first choice rep Jackie was great, she has alot of knowledge on the island and was extremely helpful. Down points were not alot of fish on the menu and I don't eat meat so a little boring, kids club was strange. Hours were meant to be 9-11.30am and 1-3.30pm but it was more whatever hours the lady wanted to do, and no weekends or apparently Halloween although they had a window advertising it! Also a must is the Windows restaurant located in the sister hotel overlooking the golf course. If you are all inclusive you get to go there for $35 per person for 3 courses, a starter there is normally approx 25-30 so very good value and service. All in all a lovely 2 weeks and met some very nice people.
