“Home cooking”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

This was one of the first places we ate after getting to the island. There is plenty of seafood, atmosphere is sort of plain, but the locals love this place. The staff did not go out of their way to check on us and service was slow. I personally was not impressed with the meal and would not go back.

“Go for the Food not the Service”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

We were told by several locals that this was where they'd take friends. Yes the food was very good and ample portions. But after our FIRST waiter sat us we were tag teamed by the rest. After three request for another local beer (8oz) I finally got one! Ha.

So as others have written...go for the food, not the atmosphere or service.

Our plates were large portions of wahoo and mahi mahi. Sides we ample and tasty.

“Slightly overrated”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

This place gets great word of mouth referrals on the island. We had several fellow tourists as well as locals recommend the Old Fisherman. We stopped in while touring Oranjestad for the day. The menu had some interesting options, including plenty of local seafood choices (not always a strong suit of every restaurant). Prices were relatively high. The meals were both cooked well, but the wait staff seemed somewhat indifferent and struggled to speak English fluently. Both meals we ordered were cooked properly and were very good. The seafood meal was a rice dish with calimari, mussels and mahi mahi in it. More rice and vegetables then seafood, though it was tasty. There are a lot of options in Aruba and this place seems to be a bit jaded/indifferent to the tourists experience.

“good food”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

one of the local people in a jewelry store suggested this place for lunch. It was pretty good, sort of pricey as most are, service very average. Ceviche was mostly onions.

“A little gem in a shopping center”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

We had a wonderful seafood dinner at this small yet friendly seafood restaurant. We and our kids (age 7) enjoyed a delicious dinner with jumbo griiled shrimp and mixed seafood grill for the adults and pasta with marinara for the kids. The portions were generous and well prepared. A pleasant surprise after a day in the shopping district. Would definitely recommend to families looking for a great dinner.
