“A Well Hidden Gem!”
Reviewed May 26, 2014

OK, this place is some serious awesomeness. Nondescript (meaning, not even a sign outside!) little street-side bungalow in the Mamora Bay area, at the intersection of the road to St James Club. With shuttered windows during the day, it becomes a romantic, cozy delight at dinnertime! The food is exquisite, and the place is simply lovely. We began our culinary experience 24 hours later than we tried to, after making the mistake of trying to walk in and get a seat without a reservation. (NOPE. Don’t do it. They mean it when they tell you to make a reservation.) But it was worth the wait!

We began with a got-to-order-it-to-see-what-it’s-all about appetizer of asparagus with a light-as-a-feather gorgonzola sauce, topped with a delicate poached egg — sensational! Also tried a salad with creamy goat cheese, cranberries and walnuts — another winner! HUGE portion.
For dinner we chose a pork medallion entrée, with a peach/Tia Maria sauce (kind of tasted like maple) and a Duck breast with black currant sauce. Pork was a tad sweet—but of no fault to the chef. Duck was out of this world.

We rounded out the meal with icy cold French Minuty wine and a shared piece of coconut cheesecake. Fantastic! This place is actually quite magical, even being off the beaten path. Absolutely worth finding it—most especially if you are anywhere near the Mamora Bay area.

“First timer and I'm so going back!”
Reviewed May 21, 2014 via mobile

Visited this restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday and I loved it. Party of 12 with mix of adults and kids down to 4 yo all looked after beautifully by Nikki. Granted this is Antigua and end of season so its a challenge to have all ingredients and wines but every glass we drank was lovely, beer v cold and every plate put in front of us was cleared! Big thanks for feeding the youngest exactly what he wanted and v quickly... Takes the stress off the adults! May have found my new 'go to' place on the East coast! Only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because there are no fans! Unusually still night and roasting!

“A must visit”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

We too are regular repeat vistors to The Hideout and there is a good reason for that - the food and hospitality are great.
As regular visitors we Antigua a visit to the Hideout is always near the top of our list and we have never been disappointed.
It can sometimes be very quiet but after some of the much busier places around English Harbour, that is not always a bad thing.

“The Hideout - worth finding!”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

We have been enjoying the hospitality of Max (chef) and Nikki for about 7 years now. A trip to The Hideout is ALWAYS the highlight of our vacations in Antigua. Friends and family always pine "I wish there was a place like this at home".
Fresh ingredients, superb sauces, extremely friendly service in a laid back setting.
Mushroom en croute, followed by the most tender tenderloin ever - just excellent!

“Super dinner as a change of scene”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

The Hideout is at the top of the hill above St James's club. The food was excellent - fresh as wed come to expect in the locale and the wien list, although a little depleted as it was the end of the peak season, still the best we found in Antigua. All the food was excellent, although worth noting there was no childrens' menu, which impacted some more than others.
