“Steeped in history”
Reviewed August 23, 2014

We visited as part of a tour. The house and dock have been restored and give you a real feel for what it was like in its day. We were interested in the house and dockyard history and bought some great old maps that we got framed. We had 2 hours and it went quickly as we rested in the gardens. Really nice to see some of the colonial history. Recommend it for a leisurely couple of hours.

Nice restoration with some interactive events. Not an all day excursion, half day then walk into town for lunch at one of the harbor side restaurants.

“Picturesque”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

The dockyard has been restored and it has a small museum and a few shops and restaurants. We didn't have a tour guide and we able to to tour the grounds with help of the informative plaques. The entrance fee was $8US for adults (12 and older) and included admission to Shirley Heights, the block house and the interpretive centre. All were great stops while touring the island and were a good value.

“Really worth visiting”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

Went here as part of an Island Tour - guide allowed us plenty of time to wander & in our own time & pace after an initial orientation chat. Time allowed was more than adequate, even including a sit down & coffee to take everything in. Make sure you get to go around the museum, loads of stuff to see & read.

“Brilliant history of the British Navy”

The museum is well worth a visit to learn all about the history of this area. The Queen even planted a Palm tree back in 1966 which is now huge!!
