“History revisisted”

Good sense of history. Very interesting and the only place in Mamora Bay where there is an ATM. However dont attempt to get cash on a sunday - usually empty. Otherwise take lots of cash with you.

“A nice change from the beach!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

While lounging on the beach is lovely, it was really nice to get into the history of Antigua for one morning during our recent trip. We were impressed by the restoration of this Dockyard, and the really lovely little museum on site. This activity won't take you forever, but it's nice to stroll around the dockyard imagining what life was like in the olden days, and to see it still functional today.

And get a patty at the operational bakery in the dockyard! Delicious!

A word of advice: VISIT ON A DAY WHERE THERE ARE NO CRUISE BOATS IN PORT. Our visit was so quiet, peaceful and leisurely, and can't imagine what it's like here when there are hundreds of people in for the day on a cruise.

“Interesting for the history buff”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We toured here as part of a island tour and you can see most of it in about 45 mins. A short intro by a guide and then a self guided tour with information plaques situated at key points.

“Drag yourself away from that sun lounger!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

I spent a few hours wandering around the area of Nelson's Dockyard and Falmouth Harbour. It is a good mix of historical content and shopping! Looking at the variety of boats moored is also interesting. There is something very soothing about being in this part of the island. It is worth tearing yourself away from the beach to see. If you don't fancy a full out tour then just speak to a cab driver and agree a price for a trip there and back. It is worth it.
