We love the new facility. Allison and her team are warm, and very kind hosts. When we arrived it was my Fiance's B Day and they sent her a birthday card with two chocolate cakes across the cove by boat from the restaurant. I love this little gem in Nelson's Landing Antigua.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the new rooms.. It is worth every penny,,

We arrived at The Admiral's Inn exhausted and stressed . Tired after 13 years caring for my parents . Firstly my father who had a severe stroke which left him severely impaired and incontinent followed by bowel cancer from which he died in 2005. My mother then experienced a few mini strokes which was followed swiftly by Altzheimer's / Vascular Dementia , loss of sight and hearing on one side . We left after 10 days at The Admiral's Inn totally refreshed , our only regret, that we had to leave such a wonderful place and return to the U.K. The care and attention we received at The Admiral's Inn was exemplary .Considerate care by owner Paul Deeth & his sister Astrid plus the nurturing tranquil atmosphere of The Admiral's Inn were totally responsible for our resurrection. Our choice was perfect and we had no regrets : Read on :

We found such peace and delight within the sympathetically restored and beautifully maintained historic building which is 'The Admiral's Inn'. Such a tranquil and restorative environment . So rich in history and offering immediate fascination . We were able to engage Immediately and effortlessly with our surroundings. Time for gentle reflection without feeling at all 'driven' to thrust onself into the many other pursuits so readily available on this wonderful and picturesque part of the Island. The owner (host extraordinaire) Paul Deeth & his capable facilitator and charming sister Astrid run The Admiral's Inn together in poetic motion. They were attentive and aware at all times and greeted us warmly upon our arrival with cool , beautifully presented refreshments. We were treated as honoured guests. A truly genuine personal touch by both during our entire stay to ensure all was as close to perfection as possible. We were so very sad when our 10 days came to an end. The staff at 'The Admiral's Inn ' were a complete reflection of the exemplary care and consideration given to us at all times by the Owners. All requests were charmingly and professionally executed , no reasonable request was refused. Our holiday at 'The Admiral's Inn' was as close to perfection imaginable and we consider ourselves to be 'well travelled' .
We found the tastebud tantalizing menu at 'The Pillar's Restaurant' a wonderfully mesmerizing . foil for fertile imagination . The food was always fresh and exquisitely presented by a staff who were always attentive , helpful and willing to serve. An excellent atmosphere of peace and tranquility , subdued lighting and staff who we found to be genuinely warm , caring and friendly . Every request was greeted with bright and willing smiles . They made every effort to ensure our time with them was relaxing and that we were content at all times. We were given their complete attention. They often went out of their way to deliver what we wished for , never baulking, even if and when our requests were somewhat unexpected or unusual. So very helpful and focused on ensuring that we were happy with the service and the meals provided . We felt valued at all times.
Our room was full of character and charm . We loved the cool haven it provided when we had need after our days investigation and relaxation. The cream 'mosquito ' nets billowed gently in the breeze when we opend the twin shuttered windows.(yes ! they do have them in Antigua so spray spray spray !) We could clearly see tropical palms and cerise Bougainvillia cascading over 18th century fortifications . The view of the harbour was breathtaking , with 'Clarence House' which used to be the Queens Antiguan residence adding additional interest . An imposing residence which is undergoing renovation and will become a museum once these changes have been completed . The views extend across to the newly acquired 'The Powder House' . Another delight to behold . A project clearly close to the owner Paul Deeth's heart . It was obvious at first glance that no expense was being spared on the restoration of 'The Powder House' . Quality and taste were to be seen in every minute detail . A delight to the eye and senses . The gentle natural tones of stone and other high quality materials were seen and felt everywhere within this project. Smooth natural Travertino Marble underneath ones bare feet , surrounding the beautiful infinity pool . The graduating steps into this pool were edged and accented in multi tonal, sparkling, tastefully small tiles in hues of violet/midnight blue/jade green . These were similar in colour to those one might encounter within the plumage of a Kingfisher or Starling . A delight to ones eyes withing the cooling depths of the peacefully welcoming waters of the infinity pool. This appeared to stretch out seemlessly into the harbour waters. We stood within the infinity pool supporting ourselves on the far edge whilst we gazed upon passing sail and wing. The silhouette of a large Pelican against the clear blue skies dipping and diving for fish in the harbour whilst it floated upon the warm embracing thermals was an additional joy to behold. There were additional facilities housed underneath the infinity pool . Beautifully and tastefully decorated toilets/changing rooms/showers , again , no expense spared and quite obiously planned and executed with meticulous attention to quality and detail. A pleasure to behold. The kitchens were equipped for efficiency and hygiene to an excellent standard. We watched the final stages of the renovations taking place whilst we made our trips across to the promontory by courtesy boat piloted by the capable and at all times polite and courteous boatman Cecil .

I have to , in the interests of honesty and fairness mention one minute point below . I do so not to be petty as it is such a trifle but rather to highlight how very intent our hosts were to provide their guests with exemplery service and how attuned and attentive they were . It is intended as a compliment to the owners and staff.

My request for a 'Breakfast' Virgin Bloody Mary was carried out with surprise at the unexpected timing but a willingness to provide . Sadly it arrived as a Tomato Juice made watery by lavish ice.
PLEASE NOTE : by the next day Paul Deeth the owner had obviously been made aware of my minor remark to the evening staff about my disappointment and every request after this for a Virgin Bloody Mary was perfectly executed with good grace and an obvious focus on providing an excellent service. On further investigation I discovered that the young waitress was new and under training . The point I wish to make with this account is that this minor slip was swiftly and gracefully rectified and I was more than content with the service and fayre provided by 'The Pillar's Restaurant' . Indeed so much so that we continued to eat there for the duration of our stay and for all bar two of our meals.

The quality of the food itself plus the standard of preparation and presentation were a testement to the outstanding skills of the chef in residence and the staff who assisted him.
The Pillars Restaurant was a delighful culinery experience and we both enjoyed the menu provided.
We would without hesitation or reservation recommend 'The Admiral's Inn ' & The Pillar's Restaurant.
Based on our experience of the management of the owner Paul Deeth & his sister Astrid and their obvious flair , good taste and sensitive restorations plus having seen the quality of the work being carried out at 'The Powder House' we would recommend this also.

We would like to add that arriving with a positive frame of mind and intent on enjoying Antigua , plus the multi layered and genuine hospitality that Paul Deeth & his sister Astrid have to offer at 'The Admiral's Inn will ensure a wonderful holiday. Like all things in life approach and attitude can be the key to contentment. Life is never perfect ,but we found our stay at The Admiral's Inn to be close to perfection.

We absolutely thrived during our stay and will not hesitate to recommend . It is our firm intention to re-visit as soon as possible.A*****

As we were unable to continue our stay at a nearby hotel we were subsequently very fortunate to find room at the Admirals Inn on Christmas Eve for two nights.
This historic building is set in the heart of Nelsons dockyard, off English Harbour in a protected area designated as a national park. The hotel incorporates several of the historic dockyard buildings. My wife and I stayed in the Joiners Loft at the Woodstore and my mother-in-law stayed in one of the more traditional rooms within the Inn.
Both rooms oozed character ie, window shutters, exposed roof trusses and wood plank floors. The Joiners Loft is situated at the waters edge and boasts a large open sided apex providing outstanding vistas over the harbour.
There is a private boat to ferry guests to the Inn's private pool and beach.
Their intimate restaurant serves fine food and I have reviewed this separately under restaurants.
I must say that I would recommend The Admirals Inn , it is reasonably priced and well placed for all the local attractions.

I cannot recommend the Admirals Inn enough. The food was inspiring and the wine list is very well chosen. Chilean Chef Juan has the skills and the ingredients to ensure your evening is complete.Dining on the historic terrace under a full moon beneath the waving palm trees, - truly memorable.

Charming place, full of character. Very nice staff indeed who made every effort to ensure the stay was a success, which it was. Beds very comfortable indeed, however tiny bathroom, and noisy fan.
They would do well to move the 'natural alarm-clock' at 0500hrs that pecks about the taxi rank outside but made OK by a great Full English and freshly squeezed OJ.
I would certainly come back on any return to Antigua but relatively speaking for what you get overall, not that cheap.

Room Tip: Try not to get the loft rooms 7-10

I arrived to Antigua few days before the Charter Show start. I was all alone but the staff has always been so pleasant and charming that I never had the feeling to be alone. Always ready to suggest where to go for swimming or having dinner or for a night club. The rooms are very nice, even if I had one on the hill view and the taxi drivers, those who park their cabs close to the hotel, were used to chat loudly at 6.00 a.m.!
The house keepers are nice and the rooms are always very clean.
A special thanks to Kemlin, Alison, Reggie, Cecil, Sasha (who welcomed at my arrival) and Amira.
Thanks Paul, nice hotel and a great staff!

Room Tip: rooms with sea view are quieter

The staff really make this place. There's an easy charm to Cecil, Kemlin and Paul (the owner), it's not too intrusive but rather engaging. Yes the restaurant is perhaps over priced and a bit of a work in progress but it will get there. The setting is relaxing and encourages you to switch off. It's clear Paul is slowly putting his stamp on the place but I hope it maintains it's intimacy as he does so. The all inclusive resorts are comparable to large Cruise Ships but the Admirals Inn is more of a cool sailing boat that allows you to have some input as to what course you take in Antigua.
