VERY crowded, limited facilities. Great views but there are plenty of other places with terrific views in Antigua.

“Definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

We visited Shirley Heights twice during our stay and it was just amazing. The sunset on our first visit wasn't great but the food and entertainment were fantastic! Everyone is out for a good night and the atmosphere is electric. Admittedly there are quite a number of people that attend this evening celebration so I would advise getting there about 45-60 minutes before sunset to ensure a good spot. The bar does get quite busy, so we ended up buying 2 drinks each at a time. There's also usually a queue of taxi's to get into the place, our taxi driver parked up and came in with us so we didn't have to worry about sitting in the queue.

The steel band were great and usually play first which gives nice background music while the sun is setting. Then they usually have another band on the stage playing from about 7pm who are also just as good and entertaining. I think they have a number of bands rotate on a weekly basis, but I think the steel band are there every week.

We also incorporated a trip to Nelson's dockyard and the blockhouse before arriving at Shirley Heights in time for the sunset. I would definitely recommend visiting Shirley Heights

So many people it is hard to actually see the much promoted sunset but not to worry... great BBQ, drinks and 2 bands make for a very fun evening.

“Sunday night reggae party.”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

The Historic Sites of Shirley Heights, the Blockhouse, Interpertation Center etc. are worth touring during the daytime. The Sunday night reggae party at the Heights is a neat outing.

“Best scenery and history”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

We visited Shirley Heights as part of an excursion that also included Nelson's Dockyard in English Bay. This was truly an amazing site for scenery for photography buffs and had a great history for the historians out there. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make the Sunday afternoon party due to poor weather conditions that day, but we will in a future visit. I would definitely recommend visiting this area while vacationing in the area.
