Played Jan 10 while on cruise. Wide open course with some trees and water. In good shape. greens putted well. Price very reasonable for the Caribbean. Hard to understand some of these reviews. Outside of a few resort courses, most courses are muni type. This course is worth playing, especially the back nine.

Great layout to this hilly interior course. Wide fairways, doglegs, enough tight holes to give you a bit of a challenge. Lots of elevation changes.
Beware if you have to rent clubs. They gave me a cheap set with a ding in the driver, and the putter face was caved in on both sides of the sweet spot. And they were dirty.
Don't play on the weekend - all the locals go then and it's very crowded.

On Dec 15, 2009 we assended the Silver Shadow looking forward to our round of golf at Cedar Valley. We had played Palmas Del Mar SE of San Juan PR, Barbados Golf Club previous days. We had hoped for a somwhat similar experience. NO WAY.

But, I guess for $69 USD what should you epxect. Yes the layout and topography are interesting. The fairways are not even fair at all. Hardpack sparced with sprigs of weed grass. The greens are at best as good as temporary greens at a "normal" golf course. More like close mowed fairways.

I suggest you find something else to do in Antigua and play golf elsewhere.

I have played all over the world at unhearlded courses and this is the most forgetable ever.

I have played Cedar Valley at last 100 times since 1977 when I first went to the island. The golf course was built by hand with little help from anything other than cows and goats. YES , it is rugged but it is a great test of golf whereby one must be able to execute all shots. Wind is a force and always a challenge. The club is run by a man named Luke for over 40 years and he is the most helpful gentleman you could ever ask for. The bar will take you back into time when life in the Caribbean was about dominos and stories of pilots seeking and delievring trading goods , etc . Enjoy a glass of local Cavalier Rum while you are there and say thanks to the monument of cedar valley creator Ralph Aldridge on your way out of the club. Someday this club will be purchased and upgraded...hopefully not soon.

Cedar Valley Golf course provides, I believe, the golfer with an exhilarating challenge in a dramatic setting. The front nine snakes its way through treacherous brush and wooded areas, hungry for the errant ball. Do not allow the gentle dog-leg of no.1 lure you into a false sense of security. Ninety degrees is the norm at holes 3,4,5 and 7. On the back nine the changes in elevation mean that you may hit a tee shot down hill and your approach shot uphill (at no. 10, for example).
The course conditioning when I played there (January 2005) was not astounding but acceptable and did not detract from the overall experience. Last thing: if you have the slightest doubt about your fitness, take a cart!
