“A Welcoming Oasis”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

One half block from Heritage Quay on the right side of High Street is a small sign which marks the entrance alley to Cafe Bambula. An oasis in downtown Saint John, Antigua providing tantalizing luncheon delites and libations. Cocktails are served promptly and are artfully prepared. A chicken ceasar salad was perfect for a light lunch as was the smoked marlin carpaccio, some wine, a lovely afternoon. An added surprise is the friendly welcome and discourse supplied by the owner and some of her regular patrons. I would recommend it if only for a nice lunch and a brief respite from shopping or siteseeing.

“Cosy cafe tucked away in centre of St. John's”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

A french caribbean cafe managed by a friendly and Irish lady. We had a tough time looking for the cafe as we were given a wrong address by the locals and even after referring to the map!

Service was very slow on the day we visited the cafe as it was packed but it's worth the wait. The Irish lady explained to us what's on the menu (which is 1 chalkboard shared with all customers) and her recommendations were good. She recommended the steak which was delicious! And so was the stuffed crab back appetizer.

We will definitely return to this cafe and try the dessert next time!

“Café Bambula”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

is one of our favourite restaurants in downtown St Johns. Set off one of the main streets, this quiet courtyard like bistrot offers excellent, not too pricey, French style food and drinks. As well as serving luncheons it is also open on Friday nights for dinner. The atmosphere and service are always excellent. To be highly recommended.

“The best dinner in a long time and great atmosphere”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

The restaurant in St Johns is generally open for lunch but does open for dinner twice a week. The food was simply delicious. The filleted snapper for main course was so fresh. The choices are innovative and very fresh. The Irish lady running it is entertaining and welcoming and its in an attractive setting off the street but with no view. They also had Mount Gay rum!
