“An idealic Caribbean holiday resort, unlikely to be matched.”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

My family and I, husband and two children aged 15 and 12 years have just returned from a 14 night holiday at Blue Waters Resort, Antigua. I'm not sure where to start. From the moment we arrived at this amazing hotel, the staff really could not have done any more to make us feel welcome and tend to our every need. We were greated personally by the General Manager and other members of staff on arrival who remembered our names from that very moment. All members of staff from the people tending to our rooms, bar staff, waiters and waitresses to name just a few provided us with the best, most friendly service we have ever experienced from our many holidays around the world. We chose two Deluxe Beachfront rooms (some inter connecting rooms are available on request) on an all inclusive basis. These rooms were extremely spacious with large bathrooms and lovely comfortable beds. The food at the 3 restaurants available to choose from was quite outstanding and the views from The Cove restaurant in particular, breathtaking. Whether you prefer sitting on white sand staring at clear turquoise water or on a very comfortable sun lounger around one of the many pools, this hotel provides Caribbean luxury at its very best. If you can tear yourself away from that there is a very good, air conditioned gym that my husband and children used on many occasions and a floodlit tennis court that we used as a family each evening along with sailing, windsurfing and other water sports. Quite honestly the only complaint we have was having to leave.

From the very beginning of our stay at blue waters we were given the very best service and the staff asked us if we were happy. There is no desire that is too much and if they can't do it, they will do their utmost to make sure you are happy.
The staff are very chatty and it is lovely talking to them at the bar and around the pool.
The weather was gorgeous when we went and even though it was in their rainy season the temperature wasn't below 30 each day. When you look out to the sea from your room, it is so beautiful it looks like a postcard! I would definitely go back to blue waters and look forward to seeing all the welcoming staff again.
There is also some lovely restaurants not a long drive away, including cocunut grove and la bistro. I would recommend them!

We were married at the end of July 2013 at Blue Waters. We could not be happier with the resort and feel very fortunate that we were able to spend 10 glorious days there. Staff are fantastic, the location is amazing, the accomodation is great, the food is consistently very good. If you are unsure where to get married, go here. There are cheaper resorts in Antigua, but do yourself a favour and spend a little extra to have a perfect holiday.

I found this to be a lovely place, room was fantastic, massive comfy bed, great breakfast I was on business but wld bring my family here, the only slight negative was that I was in an adjoining room and there was a young family next door, who were obv on holiday. I wld suggest if on business to ask for a room that is not adjoining if that is possible.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of July 2013. I cannot praise the staff at this hotel highly enough. The manager needs a gold star for selecting, training and developing staff of such a high calibre. From the gardener to the reception staff everyone was friendly, kind and helpful, going the extra mile to ensure we had a great stay. an example of this is that we mentioned that there was not salt fish as a choice for breakfast and lo and behold the next morning there it was. We had an absolutely fabulous time at Blu Water the accommodation was great and the sea view from our room was simply breath taking. We loved the grounds which are immaculate and loved the fact that the hotel never felt crowded. this hotel has spoiled me for any other hotel and it is the yardstick by which i will measure a quality 5 star hotel.

We have travelled to many Caribbean islands before, and we loved Antigua.

We want to return, and we want to return to Blue Waters

This has a lot to do with the level of service offered by the staff at Blue Waters. The Staff made our stay better than other hotels we have stayed in by a country mile.

Whether it was being met by the the manager on our arrival, the friendliness of all the staff - who make the effort to remember your names, the enthusiasm and flexibility of the watersports staff - I have never experienced service quite like it.

Special mentions to Carolyn, Owen, Robert, Ryan, Soldier and Seaforth.

In addition we adopted a taxi driver for our stay - "AJ" the most reliable and courteous taxi driver we have ever had the pleasure of being looked after by.

The beach is beautiful, great snorkelling just 10 minutes away on a Hobie Cat, together with Windsurfing and Hobie Cat lessons (lessons are chargeable)

Three pools (1 adult only although rarely used by anyone) beach bars at both of the main pools and regular attentive and friendly (as always) staff (including the beach) for drinks. Most mornings a complimentary bottle of water or fruit was bought round for guests

We were on Bed and Breakfast - as we like to check out the island and other restaurants, but we did try each of the three restaurants:

Breakfast was fantastic at The Palm - overlooking the beach and one of the pools

The Cove - was one of the best settings in and around St Johns - although i have to say that of all the restuarants this was not hugely impressive (which we fed back to management). Although we did have a visit from a turtle during our dinner that evening

Bartleys - air conditioned. Very good service, and food was very good

The Palm - a la carte was also very good

Its worth noting for those on bed and breakfast that there is also complimentary "afternoon tea" so we had no need for lunch.

Entertainment was offered and varied, and unlike so many hotels it was subtle and not cheesey

Rooms were large clean and well equipped: (a huge comfy bed, showers and air-conditioning worked perfectly) and housekeeping was flexible and efficient (with a turndown service)

We didn't watch the TV channels but our kids did , and they were impressed with the variety including the test match and the football!

We played tennis (complimentary) with a supply of rackets and balls - 5-6pm is the best time, as its the coolest time of the day without needing to be floodlit.

There was also a well used games room (table tennis and a fussball table) and an air-conditioned gym.

free wifi - a godsend to download my copy of the newspaper

A beautiful setting, a great location to get to St Johns if you want to try other restaurants, clean tidy and well kept - but above all excellent service.

Room Tip: We were in superior hillside - which kept the cost down a little for us. Beachfront would have been...

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Waters for two weeks, in late July. We had one of the Cove Suites rooms, which was very nice - perfect condition, a wonderful view of the sea, and a semi-private pool we had to share with just a handful of other rooms. The hotel wasn't very busy at the time we went, so it was quiet and very relaxing.

If I could change one thing about the Blue Waters, it would be the food options. There are only three restaurants on the property, only two of which were open on any given day. My wife is pescetarian (vegetarian + fish), so she could eat pretty much only one or two dishes in each restaurant. We tried driving to St. John's for dinner, but we didn't feel very safe there, so we pretty much stayed on the property. The chef of one of the restaurants offered to cook a special meal for my wife once, but still - it was less than ideal.

If you have no dietary restrictions and are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation in a beautiful place, the Blue Waters may be for you. If you, or someone in your party, doesn't eat meat, you may want to consider other options.

Room Tip: Do consider the Cove Suites. It wasn't a lot more expensive when we went, and the rooms are beau...
