“A small friendly hotel.”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

This small hotel provides excellent rooms, a beautiful pool and terrace and the most amazing sea views. We stayed here for four nights and the staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful. The restaurant serves very high quality, tasty food and we particularly enjoyed watching the small birds tweeting and fluttering around the terrace, during breakfast. It,s a shame the hotel isn't closer to the beach, it's a long walk back up the hill in 90 degrees! Although the views and the sunsets were worth it.

This property was a very pleasant surprise. It was chosen because it is one of the few hotels on the island with wi-fi in the rooms. While the internet connectivity isn't the best, the property is very nice. I would highly recommend it for a vacation. If they boost the wi-fi strength in the rooms it is a great place to stay for someone that's on Antigua for business.

The restaurant has delicious meals in generous portions.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the 50's.

Very pretty, and quiet. We started our honeymoon here. I thought it would've been closer to the beach. The staff was friendly. I didn't care for the rooms, they seemed outdated. Switched to different hotel after a few days, not much to do there. I probably wouldn't go back.

Room Tip: I didn't care for the rooms at all. We loved all landscaping, nice for walks.

We thank you for taking the time to send a review and would like to note that we do have one room block that is scheduled for refurbishment later this year. The other 2 blocks having been refurbished recently. Trade Winds Hotel is promoted as peaceful and tranquil just minutes away from numerous attractions and activities.

I stayed here for one night and was so sad to leave. Absolutely gorgeous hotel with lots of beautful colorful plants and tree's. Very peaceful and serene and a great place to escape the world around.
The rooms are actually little individual suites with tiny spiral staircases. The rooms are very big, airy and have patios with magnificent views of the hotels backyard area. There is Ocean a few feet below which I believe is accessible via a short cab ride. This hotel is in St.Johns so easy to catch a cab for a few bucks whenever you want to go into town. No actual amenities on the premises, but there was tennis and swimming nearby. There is a pool which looks very nice but did not have time to check out. The Bay House Restaurant is on the propery which serves great cuisine any time of day, but is a little pricey.
I want to go back here to get married...the arches of flowery plants they have just over the entrance to the pool area is perfect for some beautiful, memorable photo ops.
The entire hotel is quiet, and they ask guest to keep noise to a minimum as to not disturb other guest. I could have stayed out on the patio all day and not had a care in the world...was a great introduction for us to Antigua and when we go back, we have our hearts set on staying here again.
The cons to this hotel are the options for food...there is nothing cheap and easy to get. Just like every other hotel/resort on the island, nothing is accessible by foot...and when it rains, the stairs are VERY slippery!
I did not check out the fitness center (if they even had one) or the spa due to the lack of time spending in the hotel, so I gave them both an average review because I cannot say anything terribly wrong about this property.

Room Tip: Not sure if the hotel is wheelchair accessible,so ask before you decide to stay. The stairs are stee...

I recently stayed here for 2 nights before leaving Antigua, I have been on the island 3 and a half months and can honestly say this is the best place I have stayed in. My room was spacious with all the facilities I needed, a balcony with a great view and a very decent sized bathroom plus the room was immaculately clean. The highlight of this hotel for me was the restaurant I could not fault the food and the happy hour offering 40% off all food and drink when ordered between 5 and 7pm was a great bonus.....my only complaint about the menu was that it was so extensive I took such a long time deciding what I wanted. I would completely recommend this hotel the staff were friendly and it certainly beats the expensive hotels claiming to offer luxery which in my opinion are mainly tourist traps!

I stayed here only for about 4 days after having a ghastly experience at an Inn (refused to stay more than the night at the Inn - it was that bad). Trade Winds rooms are LOVELY! The rooms are clean, spacious, the linen top notch, bathroom nice (only wished the water pressure was better!). Maid service did a good job cleaning up every day and putting in fresh towels daily. Overall I would stay here again due to the comfort level of the bed and the cleanliness of the rooms. I didn't explore the rest of the hotel. Just needed a room for a few days but I must say that the restaurant prices (for Breakfast) was a tad bit on the high side (I didn't try it because of that). I totally recommend tho.
