With so many islands and so many resorts to choose from, going back to the same place may seem odd but I can't imagine finding anything better. Great facilities.great food and friendly staff made this the vacation of a lifetime.

We travelled via Air Canada to VC Bird airport and we were promptly identified and transported to Sandals Grande Antigua, just a short ride. When we arrived at the resort, we were expecting a greeting from someone, but we were left to wander around, finally we had to approach one of the ladies in the lobby. It surprised us, since we had been to the Sandal La Toc St Lucia, the year before and we were immediately greeted and had things explained to us, regarding the amenities and services available. Also, at St Lucia, we were able to make our restaurant reservations for the week and didn't have to worry about it, whereas in Antigua, we could only reserve 48 hours ahead, but this was minor. Our luggage made it to the resort in the same van, but there was a mix up and our bags spent a few hours outside another room. This was not too bad and they found their mistake and fixed it. Our rooms were quite a walk from the lobby and included two flights of stairs, and I know that the front desk were not aware of my wife's mobility, so we didn't make a fuss. We were quite tired after our early rise that morning in Ontario and flight down to Antigua, so we were in bed by 10.30.P.M. We soon found out that we were adjacent to the service road entrance and were kept awake by the delivery trucks all night.
We usually do not make big deal about minor things, but we felt that we had spent enough to at least warrant good sleeping quarters.
We went to the concierge suite and met with Craig, I was expecting the worst, but Craig went immediately to the reservation manager and came back with keys for another room, for us and our friend's, travelling with us. The new rooms were in a four block unit and was much closer to the lobby and amenities, also for my wife's benefit, we had the choice of the ground floor unit, thanks to our friend's. Craig definitely came through for us, thankyou Craig, this made our trip so much better. We did have a good holiday, the pools were cleaned daily and the resort quite well taken care of. I think the bar staff could have had more help, I felt sorry for them, trying to keep up by themselves, but most tourists were patient and could see they were doing their best.
I realize that Sandals would like to keep your money in the resort, since we had the distinct feeling that they did not want you to explore and spend money outside the resort, such as sourcing excursions. We took the power cat tour around the island, the sea was a bit rough where the Carribean meets the Atlantic, but the tour was good, also we too in Stingray City and had a good day. By the way, if you want a good tour around this small island, call Green Ice taxi and ask for Josette #TX 123, she gave us a great tour to Nelson's Dockyard, Shirley Heights and Valley Church beach (beautiful), thanks Josette.
With the exception of the shakey start, it was a great holiday. I hope this review helps others, I may not return to this resort, but only because we like to go to a different place each year, if possible. Good luck travellers, regards David.

We went for our honeymoon and it was horrible! My husband got food poisoning the first night there, they left my bags in the car and they went back to the airport, our bathroom had mold in it- if there was a flight to somewhere else we would have taken it. The food quality there is that of a Olive Garden NOT a five star restaurant. - Come to find out it is the advertising we were paying for- their advertising budge is huge and that is why it looks so good. Looks can be deceiving.

Fantastic service and beautiful hotel and location. We couldn't have asked for anything better than the service we got from this Sandals resort. Highly recommend any couple wanting to get away and relax to go here. Breathtaking and relaxing.

Beautiful grounds and gardens. Staff very courteous and friendly. Rooms lovely Food mediocre. Hour long wait for restaurants that did not take reservations (even though there would clearly be 8-10 empty and cleared tables). Half hour waits to try to book restaurants that took reservations, often to find out there was nothing left. Yet, when arriving for reservation, there would be empty tables that remained so. How about a beach party buffet with a wait time of an hour to get in? Unlimited space on a beach....you would think. I guess when Sandals Grande Antigua offer 65%off, the cuts have to come from somewhere. This was our 2nd Sandals experience. The first one 5+ years ago. Definitely a deterioration from then. Won't likely be back.
