“Another fantastic visit to Jumby Bay!”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

After spending a magical 4 nights there last year, my husband & I decided to return to Jumby Bay for the holiday season, bringing along my mom, a friend, and our 2 children, aged 10 & 12. We rented a 3-bedroom, 3 1/2 bath villa, complete with its own pool and 2 golf carts, and it was perfect; the only downside was the hefty price tag, which I believe was at least doubled for the holiday season. The villa was newly redone--we were the first to stay in it--and it was beautiful. The fridge was stocked before we arrived--sodas, beer, wines, tons of fresh fruit, even potato chips, chocolate bars and Oreos for the kids!
Despite the fact that the resort was completely booked for the holidays, we still felt like it was empty. Never a problem getting a table at any of the restaurants or a place on the beach or at the pools, and the service remained impeccable. They go above and beyond to take care of you, it's sheer luxury.
My kids enjoyed the freedom being on a private island afforded them, and had a great time riding their bikes all over. They even went to the mainland one day with the kids' club to go ziplining.
Private picnic at Pasture Bay Beach was again a highlight, and the New Years' Eve party they put on was nothing short of spectacular!
We will all definitely be going back to Jumby Bay Island.

Jumby is very exclusive. Most of the arrivals are via private jet and the cost is crazy high, but the service is fantastic, the beaches are surreally beautiful, and the food is excellent, but Iʻm writing this to get the attention of the management...the ferry service that takes you to and from the resort is terrible. The people are professional and the boat is great, but it is NEVER there to pick you up. Weʻve been here a week and the guest ferry has NOT ONCE been available to take us back to the island. I guess we could have waited an hour or so and it would eventually come, but I have stayed at resorts that cost seriously a 1/100th of the cost of Jumby and they have a boat to pick me up virtually on call and worst case at these other places was never more than a 15 minute wait. A $10k a night, I think there should be a way for the boat to be available shortly after we arrive at the dock and not have to wait an hour at lunch time to get back.

We went to Jumby in 2012 - straight 10's everywhere ! This year (2013) in the first 2 weeks of December there seemed to be kids everywhere. The Pool Grille is one of the best lunch spots in the Caribbean but not with kids in the adjoining infinity pool (notice says they should be attended by parents or guardian). However, the hotel speedboat towing a truck tyre tube full of screamers made me think I was on one of the Costas !

Just a little background from the reviewer... I have taken our family to the Caribbean every year for a week for the past seven or eight years. We are four (43, 43, 15, 13). We have stayed at Jumby Bay, Four Seasons Nevis, St. Thomas Ritz Carlton, Cap Juluca (Anguila), Coco Point Lodge (Barbuda), La Sammana (St. Martin). You will notice that none of these are budget or value resorts. For these trips we are typically not very budget-conscious, as my main goal is to create special memories for our family. I will say if paying a lot for your stay will ruin your vacation, this is definitely not the place. However, Jumby Bay has become our favorite over time and has some fairly unique features. First, JB was inclusive of meals and drinks, and not worrying about the $15 smoothies, $10 cups of coffee, and $30 hamburgers (typical of the level of property at which we stay) was nice. I know its still built into the price, but you don't have to think about it as you aren't confronted with it at every meal. A particularly unique aspect of JB is the privacy on the island. This feature may not be important to everyone, but if you like privacy, and don't want to sun-bathe with the masses, you will LOVE this place. We found that the staff is very well trained, although the cultural aspects of the Caribbean are not absent. Don't expect a St. Regis style butler to serve your breakfast at ANY place you stay in the Caribbean; you will be disappointed. This is not to say the staff is not well-trained, but just remember you are in the Caribbean and things are a bit different there.

We stayed in the same 2 BR villa each time at JB, and, although pricey, this villa provided us with the most relaxing, private, and enjoyable vacations over the years. We really like to try new places, and have a long list of places to try, so the fact that we have returned here three times says a lot. For us, 4 nights seems to be the magic number. The food is varied enough for this type of timeframe, and by the way I would consider the food to be excellent even from a foodie's perspective. Do not miss "White Night" BBQ on the beach (Sundays, if I remember correctly). In our three stays, I can not remember any major problems, and any minor ones have been handled appropriately with a polite request to the staff. Yes, the sea actually looks like the pictures on the website! Bluest. Clearest. Ever. I love to pick up sea stars in the shallow waters, which have been plentiful each time we have gone. We have great memories as a family riding bikes around the island. No cars allowed on the island! In sum, if you would like a unique, private, and relaxing vacation, save up and go for it! Well done, JB. We will see you again, I am sure.

Jumby Bay provides an overall solid experience and is the perfect 4 day getaway

Location - the private Island is beautiful and peaceful. The beaches rate a solid 8/10 with almost white sand. They are not however at the level that can be found in Anguilla (pretty much nowhere is!) and the experience is marred somewhat by the weeds growing near off shore. The plane noise referenced in other reviews is there but sporadic and does not detract from overall experience.

Rooms - we stayed in a Courtyard suite. Overall the quality is more than adequate and is very spacious. At the same time there are better options in carribean (eg viceroy Anguilla)

Food and Beverage - very good for an all inclusive venue. For us we prefer the variety of selecting restaurants off property so not ideal. Again another reason why we prefer Anguilla as a destination.. House wine choices are average at best but selection and pricing of wine list is pretty good but not included.

Service - excellent for carribean standards. Much better than Anguilla. Very friendly staff who puts in great effort and genuinely seems committed to making your stay special. Every now and then there is a "Carribean" moment but nothing to mar the stay to any significant degree.

Overall morn than adequate experience but those who claim best in world status have obviously not been to Anguilla.

Just returned from a week vacation at Jumby Bay...wow. A very exclusive resort with a great beach and pool and stunning rooms. Already enough to be up there with the best we have been to, yet it is the service which truly sets them apart from any other resort which I have stayed. If you have ever been on a seaborn cruise, then you will understand. From the greeting off the deck to the concierge ladies the welcoming feeling pervades. Always remembering us by name is remarkable. The service on the beach itself was unlike any I have ever seen. Every 15 minutes someone is there to take a drink or food order. Also delicious snacks are passed all day. The beach bar is an all day party with a bartender from some other planet where the currency seems to be having a great time.

I truly did not expect all of this as the resort is all inclusive. Many people we met were repeaters and it is clear why they would be.

Highly recommended and thanks again to the best staff I have yet to encounter.

My wife and I spent a week at Jumby Bay for her birthday. It was the best place we have ever stayed and that's a lot of high end resorts. Everything was perfect...EVERYTHING. What we noticed was how quiet and private it was. That made it so relaxing to not have people all around us. Also a refined place so no unruly kids or drunk 20 year olds. Only guests are allowed on the private ferry to the island to there are only those few people at the resort's 40 or so units on the island. Very private and secluded from the main island. We were so relaxed. No locks on the doors tells you how relaxed the atmoshpere and the all inclusiveness just added to not having to think about ANYTHING. Did I mention how relaxing it was? Everything was perfect...room, food, activities, drinks, and especially the service. Everyone knows who you are and anticipates your desires, doesn't just respond to your requests. First vacation we have ever had in 25 years that we left already planning to come back. Paradise.
