“Pure Bliss!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

Arriving in Jumby Bay is equivalent to arriving in paradise! As soon as the ferry landed at the resort dock, we knew that we were in for the experience of a lifetime. We were met by Rita, who made the check in process a breeze and gave us a brief tour of the gorgeous facilities while we were cooling off and de-stressing with a rum punch in hand! The general manager was also there to greet us (and send us off when we departed)! A very thoughtful touch.

Being that the resort is very small, we had some concerns when we saw that a corporate group was checking in at the same time with us. Rita assured us that it was a relatively small group and that it shouldn’t be a concern. Rita, and her wonderful fellow employee Melinda, followed up with us throughout our stay to make sure that we weren’t bothered, and advised us where the group functions would be occurring so if we wished, we could plan on spending our time elsewhere.

The service throughout the resort is impeccable. The employees ask your name and then remember it each and every time they greet you. Every single employee, without exception, genuinely cares that you are having a wonderful time, and that you are not wanting for anything. As an example, one day I left a note in our room asking if they had any chocolate chip cookies. I was expecting a small bag of Chips Ahoy! When we returned, we were left a beautiful tray of homemade cookies wrapped in cellophane with a ribbon! The next day, more cookies were waiting in the room! As another example, the night before we were leaving, a note was left in our room saying that if we wanted a lunch packed for our trip the next day, to contact the front desk. I called them and asked what was available. They told me that I could have ANYTHING I wanted. Just let them know and the chef would make it. It is small things like this, that make Jumby Bay so special.

The rooms have every amenity you could ask for. The beds are super comfortable, the rooms are bright and spacious and the outdoor garden shower and bathtub are a rare treat. We stayed in a beachside courtyard suite. These rooms are desirable since you are steps away from the blue sea. Bicycles are provided for each room, which is a nice touch and enable you to easily explore the island!

The beach and pool service were the best we have ever experienced. Amenities are brought to you almost hourly…smoothies, frozen drinks, hot finger foods and fresh fruit. Franka, one of the beach staff employees came by daily to check in to make sure our vacation was everything we wanted it to be.

The term “All-Inclusive” is given a new definition at Jumby Bay. The dining venues and food choices were diverse and outstanding. We have eaten at some of the best restaurants in New York City and thought that the food at Jumby Bay was equal to, or better than, many of these restaurants. There are specials every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner so you would not tire of the menu. The Estate House is a very romantic restaurant with impeccable service. Our server Melissa, was one of the most charming individuals we met during our stay. Her service was warm and welcoming. Her knowledge of the menu and enthusiasm in presenting it, made you want to order one of each item (which at Jumby Bay, would not be a problem)! You felt like you were a treasured guest in her home.

We had to rack our brains to come up with any criticism. The only minor quibble is that the internet service is spotty. In the room, we had to sit on the bed to receive it. Around the resort, we found that the only place to receive it was by the reception area.
This is a small price to pay for the overall experience however.

The “can-do” attitude of the staff is evidenced throughout the entire resort. Every single employee appears to know the value of their guests and genuinely care that you feel pampered and extra special. Tipping is not encouraged and it is obvious that the employees are catering to you not for the tip that you might provide. If I could go to one resort for the rest of my life, Jumby Bay would be my choice. Sure it’s expensive, but every dollar is well spent at Jumby Bay! If you can, by all means go and experience it for yourself!

Room Tip: Beachside Courtyard suites provide the best ocean views.

Just a beautiful island, beautiful views, friendly people and staff. Went for our anniversary and they catered to us the night of it. Stayed in a beachside suite was wonderful. It is pretty quiet but plenty of activites to do. The food was good, not outstanding but no complaints for an all inclusive. Top shelf liquor, wine could be up a notch. There are bikes to get around, they are a bit large especially if you're short. The ferry will take you back & forth to Antigua. Snorkeling was ok around the island not too much to see. Even though it is pricey it is worth the money.

Room Tip: We stayed in beachside suite #39, great location and view

My husband & I recently returned from 4 nights at Jumby Bay in celebration of our anniversary. It was everything we anticipated and more! It truly felt like we were on our own private island. You hardly notice the other guests, and often we had the pool and beach all to oursleves! All the staff were so warm and welcoming and everyone somehow knew our names! Room was exquisite, very large, wonderful view--Beachside Courtyard #29. The food at all the restaurants was top-notch. We splurged and had a private beach dinner (one of the few things at Jumby you have to pay extra for) and it was well worth it. Another highlight was a private picnic at Pature Bay Beach. The snorkeling is not so great off the beach, though there is some coral, and the trip to Bird Island was a bit of a disappointment as lots of jelly fish! Yes, it's expensive, but given the size and quality of the rooms along with the included sports, food and drinks (and all the wines were amazing by the way!) it is well worth it. We'll be back for sure!

Jumby Bay is no ordinary place.
As soon as we passed through Antiguan customs we were magically greeted by a Jumby Bay representative.......I still have no idea how we were recognized as their guests considering we were the only couple on a packed flight headed to Jumby that afternoon. We were whisked off through additional security and ferried to our island paradise in virtually minutes.
After a cool wash cloth on the welcoming pier and the warmest most attentive reception in my resort history; we were golf carted to our beachfront suite with a Jumby Rum Punch in hand. The suite was spacious and well appointed.......fresh flowers, chocolate covered fruit and an iced bottle of bubbly awaited our indulgence.
The outdoor rain shower was a welcome reprieve from the beach sun every afternoon.
The beach was steps away.......fresh towels, cushions and chilled water were always under our thatched beach canopy. The friendliest staff imaginable constantly patroled the beach bringing unexpected treats and fulfilling drink orders.
Don't miss the picnic on Pasture Beach....lizards turtles and all.
After our first supper of grilled lobster and mahi mahi at the Verandah it was as if we were home on our own private island. The Estate House and Pool Grill also provided outstanding quality, selection and service.
Jumby Bay is over the top if you are looking for privacy, understated elegance and pampered relaxation. This is a first class resort that caters to your every need with pleasure.......if you want wild and crazy hit the main island of Antigua.
We'll be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in Beachside Suite #28 and it was the perfect location

Great property and great people.
We were here during a slow period and loved it, all of the staff was engaging and friendly and gauged their approach to our needs at the time.
Went here seeking peace and quiet without the kids for a few days and found exactly that. As former Rosewood guest we knew what we were in for and found exactly that, don't go here if you want jet skis, crowds and loud music. This is a true getaway eat, drink and enjoy the beach.

My one headache would be the view to the left is a bit populated, mind you you are looking at Antigua not NYC, so maybe I am being a bit of a nag beccause I couldn't look at a deserted island across the channel, other then that great spot.

Also, this is a very child friendly property, my understanding is there are a fair amount of children here around the holidays and it is wonderful.

We've been visiting Jumby Bay for family holidays every other year or so since 2005, and it's always a great pleasure to return. We were back there this summer, and found the resort to be better than ever. The pool suites are superb. Refurbished a couple of years ago to a very high standard, each has its own private plunge pool, even though the hotel's lovely soft-sand beach is just a few steps away. The food - always good - has stepped up another notch under the charming new head chef (who's added a strong Italian flavour into the mix). The pool grill is also an excellent addition, so there are now three excellent restaurants to choose from, as well as the regular Sunday night beach barbecue. Service is always welcoming, friendly and prompt (and well above the standard we've experienced in other hotels in the region); and as a private island, Jumby's beaches are secluded, so you won't ever be pestered by traders, which is a major plus in our view. However, it’s also worth bearing in mind that you can’t easily just pop over to the main island in the evening, so be prepared to make your own entertainment. That makes it an ideal resort to visit with friends. We love it and will definitely return.

Room Tip: If you're going with friends, ask about renting one of the island's lovely privately-owned v...
