It was close before the sceduled times so we could not get in and learn or see anything. We peeked through the fence at the mill.

This active archeological site represents the whole story about the Caribbean islands and what they were about. Namely, sugar plantations back when the world began its discovery and insatiable desire for real sugar. excellent museum that explains it all ... sugar milling, rum, slavery. Read the letter from a slave requesting to buy his freedom. It was chilling, both figuratively and literally amidst the 85 degree tropics.

We stopped here for lunch whilst on a jeep tour of the island. It was informative and moving. There is no charge, but a donation box is available. There were only half a dozen people there at the time and it was a very peaceful location.

This was moving because of the accounts of slavery and the island's history as well as the sugar plantation stuff , but the whole of the experience was presented in a somewhat amateur way and the site needs attention to make this an attraction on a level with Nelson's dockyard or other elsewhere
