Betty's Hope is an old sugar cane plantation with two windmills that used to crush the sugar cane before the juice was passed to the boiling plant. The site consists of the two windmills, one of which has been restored, plus a number of ruined buildings consisting of the plantation owners hide, the site managers house and the remains of the boiling and fermentation factory. Each building has signs to explain what is what. There is also an interpretation centre with a model of the site as it used to be, plus a lot of information on the history of the site and also sugar cane in Antigua. The site has plans to further restore some of the buildings and also restore the railway that used to be on the site.
Worth a visit to understand some of the history of the island.
