“Great time at Miguel's”

Miguel's Holiday Adventure
Reviewed April 14, 2013

This was our first time there. We had a wonderful time and will return. My wife is not a strong swimmer or snorkeler. This was perfect for her. Part of the area is shallow, under four feet with fish all over! There is also deeper areas. We did see conch shells as well as a least 25 types of fish. Bring and use water shoes, lots of coral to walk on. Food was great for a rustic setting! We also booked directly with Miguel via Internet. There were groups there from Celebrity and Royal C. About 50 people in all. It was a great day, highlight of a perfect trip.

We booked this excursion through RCCL last week during our cruise. We usually don't book through the cruise lines but this one we ran out of time. I had seen the write up on TA and was planning on booking it anyway based on the reviews. Anyhoo, We were met by our guide on the pier and then taken to a taxi about 10 minutes away to a little beach where we whisked over to the tiny family owned island. This is a small island owned by Miguel a 73 year old local. There is a small very pretty beach area and you are given a chair and umbrella upon arrival. Lunch was prepared by Miguel's wife and son. It was a buffet of grilled snapper, rice, potato salad, chicken and salad. Oh! Make sure you get some of the fried bananas when you arrive. There is an open bar with rum punch, coconut rum and coke, sodas, water. Snorkel equipment is free and they even will have free classes if needed. This was a very relaxing beautiful day. Since the island is small they limit the amount of people to about 25. This was our favorite day of our cruise. Miguel and his family do a great job of making you feel welcome in a very rustic setting. This is not a Sandal's resort! I wish we could have stayed a few more hours! Great for couples and adults fortunately there were no kids there today! I will book direct with Miguel next time so he make more than $25 a person!

Miguel is a 73 year old local who has run his business with his family for 37 years. The trip involves a 10 minute sail across to the little islet he rents from the government ,There we enjoyed liberal supplies of beer and rum cocktails followed by a salad lunch including lobster if you were in the know. There's a pretty spit of sand to bask on with loungers and umbrellas supplied and a reef to snorkel over . take advice from Miguel's son as to the best spot to see fish .The coral is badly damaged by earlier hurricanes .A not inexpensive but pleasant outing

Have been going on this trip now for over 30 years
Miguel and his family now own the Island and have been running this trip all that time.
You on not on a cruse ship, and so you cannot expect the same conditions that you would get on board, you are on a small wonderful island surrounded by Coral where you can snorkel all day , enjoy good food and plenty of drinks and just chill out. That is why we come here each time that we visit the Island.
Book directly with Miguel if you can and make sure that he sits down and has a coffee with you!!
we would not want this trip to change at all as we love it just the way that it is and always has been.
cannot wait to get back and see Migeul and all the family.as soon as we can
