“Prickly Pear Island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

We just returned from our 4th visit to Prickly Pear with Miguel. This time we booked directly with Miguel vs. through the cruise ship. We did save a little money, but Miguel (and family) made more money. He treated us like royalty! We are going again in January, 2013. Even though we don't drink we feel the food, snorkeling, beach, meeting others from cruise is worth the money. We have taken all of our four kids and spouses and they love it. We are divers and we love Prickly Pear the most of all our shore excursions. If you find a living conch while snorkeling they will clean the shell and then make a conch salad for you. This was our first trip where 10 conch were found.

“Special Island”

Peace - gentle waves - azure blue sea - snorkeling - and good fresh local fare. We go here every year for our anniversary as we chose to get married on this island many moons ago.

“Miguels Island Adventure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2012

Miguel and his family own an island off the coast about 100 yards away . Its called Pricly Pear Island they take you to their private beach area for the day and cook home made food for you . The drinks and food are included in the costs . It can get very very hot out there there is some protection on his veranda area take lots of sun bloch and a good hat . Check out his days of operation with your hotel or tour company . Miguel can be found wlaking the Dickenson Bay Beach area most days selling tickets . Once you purchase your ticket you get there buy taxi of your choice . Make sure that the day and time you pick does not have many people booked from the ships in port . Ask how many people are booked for that day .

“Well worth the expense! Excellent snorkeling!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

We met Miguel on the beach at Dickenson Bay. He is a charming man, and everything he promised his "adventure" to be was true. Excellent snorkeling off his private uninhabited island with a very filling family style picnic with homemade family recipes for lunch. Unlimited, open bar with bottled beers or cocktails and plenty of beach umbrellas for shade should you want to escape the blazing sun.

Small, rustic changing rooms are available as well as a pump-style flush toilet.

This is NOT a fancy excursion, but my family enjoyed it thoroughly and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Antigua.
