My boyfriend and I visited Antigua this weekend to attend a wedding. We booked at the Buccaneer because it was right on the beach and I thought it was be a nice setting. What I wasn't expecting was the well laid out grounds, the spacious rooms and the great peacefulness of it all. The rooms were extremely clean and everything that was needed was available and in good working order. The staff were helpful and patient making us feel welcomed and appreciated. It was a mini getaway made even better and I would definitely be back... I recommend it to anyone.

My friend from England and I met in Antigua for a lads' weekend with the excuse of watching the Antigua vs USA World Cup soccer qualifier. We had a tremendous time. The BBC facility, the self-catering accommodation and, most notably, the staff were all fantastic. The restaurant on the beach right in front of the BBC was wonderful too. Thanks Simonetta, Michelle and the rest of the BBC staff. You were wonderful.

Like most of the comments before, we found the BBC an excellent choice for the week we spent there in September. We had an upstairs apartment (number 10) which had a balcony overlooking the well planted garden and pool. The apartment has everything you need - especially efficient a/c plus fans. It is very spacious so plenty of room for a family - although it was just myself and my wife. We had spent the previous week at Jolly Beach (also reviewed) so can compare the two locations. On the plus side, the accommodation is much better at BBC and as it's self catering, you do spend more time in it than at Jolly Beach. The beach at Jolly Beach is much better however - nonetheless, the beach outside the 'back gate' at BBC was pretty good - although as the beach is much narrower than at Jolly Beach, it can get a bit more crowded - especially on Sundays. The beach to the left of the BBC is not developed and if you go to the other end of it, it is quite quiet. The beach to the right includes a long expanse of Sandals hotel plus a number of private apartments and finally the Rex Halcyon Cove (which seems to suffer a bit from sea weed).
The First Choice supermarket is a 20 minute walk - the road is not too bad for walking and much of it can be walked on the verge to avoid being too near traffic - which again is not that busy. It has a good range of food available. If you have a car you could travel a bit further and go to the Epicurean supermarket on Friars Hill Road - but there's probably not much difference in the choice apart from quality of fresh vegetables. Staff at BBC were all exceptionally friendly and helpful.
An excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: A block of 4 rooms at the front of the property seemed to be very shaded - may suit some people but...

When we first walked up to the office, i was impressed by the fact there was a Certificate of Excellance from Trip advisors. I knw from that point it was going to be a special stay at Buccaneer beach Club. Jamal was professional and efficient, friendly and examplified Antiguain hospitality. We stayed in unit 9 with a wonderful view of the pool and gardens. Just a minute walk to Dickenson Bay, fabulous. Natalie our housekeeper was friendly and greeted everyone with a big beautiful smile. Yemi was agem, a good guy and an asset to this operation. never a bad day at BBC and i have told all my friends about this place. We wil definately be back to visit Antigua and we know where we gona stay. big up BBC

We just spent 1 week at BBC and it was wonderful!. First, the staff was exceptional. Everyone was very helpful and to give examples - my fiancé wanted some real coconut water - they went, found some coconuts and sliced them open for her. We wanted to visit Shirley Heights (recommended) but didn't want to pay the $80 US cab fare - it was a sunday about 3pm, they arranged for a rental car and by 4pm we were driving ourselves for $45 US for the day.

The location was beautiful. We stayed in unit 9, which was an upper level in the "blue" building or last building before the beach which overlooked the pool and garden. The room was clean and roomy. The manager had arranged for some basic items like water and fruit for our arrival. very nice and very quiet. A 2 min walk and you're on the beach - again clean - not crowded - walk to the right and you head towards the Sandals resort and walk to the left is another beach - simply beautiful!!

For food, there are many choices, on the beach near BBC was Coconut Grove - OK place - a little pricey we thought - a few minutes walk down the beach was Peppers and Lime - we mostly drank there. near BBC was a supermarket so we mostly purchased breakfast items and fruit. For dinners we drove into St. Johns main market area and found a wonderful woman that made the best rice/peas, chicken meals - $10 US for two. She was setup on the side of the road so its not for everyone.

We like going during "off-season" since most of the beaches will be empty - except for the Sandals - a bit crowded over there. At most beaches we visited like Hawksbill and Turners - we saw no more than 5-6 people - simply great!! The BBC beach was great - lounge chairs available - warm waters... You'll get some folks that come up to sell you stuff and we're glad they did - we got a chance to go horseback riding along the beach.. great..

BBC is simply the best - affordable, comfortable and WONDERFUL!!!! Thank you to all the staff for making this a special trip for us....

We have just returned for a week at BBC. We were in a 1 bed appt with our 2 children age 13 & 7. Our appt (no 12) was upstairs & overlooking the pool & gardens. The room was spacious & spotless. Our girls shared a sofabed & we all had plenty of space for the duration of our stay.

We had pre-ordered a food pack which was perfect for our first night. They also have a large cooler in the reception area & sell cold drinks including wine & beer.
The hotel grounds are beautiful & very well kept. A gate leads onto the small sandy beach area, which again is very clean. The sea is calm & perfect for swimming. There are sunloungers available for guest use.
There is a small supermarket within walking distance & a lady who sells fresh fruit just down the road.
We walked to the main supermarket (some 20 minutes away - not for the faint-hearted)which has everything you could want, & took a taxi back.
There is also a laundry (at no extra cost) which is great as we came back with all clean clothes.
We ate out a couple of times at Pepperz & Lime some 20 yards down the beach. They serve Mexican food & Sunday is party day with live music from lunchtime onwards. The cost for the 4 of us including drinks was about £30 - equivalent to a trip to a pizza place at home.
We also cooked in our apartment (there is a toaster, 2 ring hob & microwave).
If you like boat trips look out for Captain Nash along the beach. He took us snorkelling in his small (no frills) sailing boat over to Hawksbill cove. The boat trip was fantastic, on the way we saw hundreds of moon jellyfish out at sea.
All in all this is a little gem of a hotel. The staff are so willing to help & please to see you.
We would definately stay here again - a BIG thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Room 12 (upstairs) has a good view of the gardens & pool

We did enjoy the Buccaneer hotel as the location was stunning. The staff was absolutely fantastic... Exteamly helpful and very polite... They turned us on to a taxi service and the owner named Barry Oliver that you must use. He took us around the island and had details and history you would never get from another driver... Great trip, great place to stay, great people, fabulous country... A definite repeat...

Room Tip: I didn't see a bad location
