This is a beautiful soft, white, sandy beach perfect for enjoying the clear water, and nearly endless, so great for a leisurely stroll! It is a short taxi ride from the cruise port. Lounge chairs are available for rent, although we didn't use this service. A bar is available for drinks, as well as, bathroom facilities. We visited in December and the weather was perfect! The water was warm, and refreshing! Jet skis can be rented, for those seeking ,ore adventure. We would definitely visit again!

The fine white sandy public beach at Dickenson Bay has a strong vivid Caribbean vibe. The mile or so long beach has several resorts along it's length and the public beach is sandwiched in between several resorts with the larger Sandals Resort to the left and Halcyon Cove Rex Resort to the right. The blue-green tourquoise aqua marine waters are just gorgeous and seem to have gentle calmer seas than a lot of beaches at this time at the end of March. All beaches are public on Antigua but this truly public area on Dickenson Bay where taxis let you off is patrolled by vendors who will set you up with chairs , umbrellas or palapa shade. After taking a 10 or 15 minute taxi ride from the cruise port with 19 of us around 9:00 a.m., for $4 each for one way, we paid $20 for 2 chairs and umbrella shade. The sandy stretch of public beach was absolutely gorgeous with soft, clean, fine white sand and a shallow approach into the awesome colored clean, clear and quite warm waters. The awesome , scenic Caribbean charm with bright, flamboyant colors, from bright yellow catamarans, to rainbow colored sail boards, bright multi-colored umbrellas with colorful lawnchairs on the white sandy beaches that are lapped by aqua-marine tourquoise waves was stunning. There were beautiful pink flowered trees alongside wavering green palms against azure blue skies with grey storm clouds on the horizon that added to the palette of colors on this beach. The yellow and black bananaquits flitted through the lush vegetation over sleeping brown speckalled doves and below soaring magnificant frigatebirds and brown pelicans. This beach has a few vendors selling wares but are not pesky if told no thanks. The beach is quite built up with restaurants, bars and resorts with shade trees further back in the public beach area where you can just sit on a towel if you prefer. Be sure to pull your chair and umbrella closer to the water as they will put umbrellas in front of you if you don't, and again it is important to get there early to set up as it gets busier later in the day from cruise ships. The 2 or 3 kilometer stretch of beach makes for nice walking, especially to the right as there is a large stretch of undeveloped beach up to the cliffs. One can view the layers of shellfish in the layers along the cliffs of the shoreline and see large rocks embedded with shells in the limestone like rocks. A must walk along the palm lined sandy beach with water sports rentals and resorts. The waters out front of the public beach area is busy with water sports action and lively with jet skiis, catamarans, speed boats and tubers being towed in figure eights. The beach bars and restaurants have good food and drinks at regular prices but the village store is near to buy food and drinks at lower prices. All in all the group of 19 of us had a magnificant time on this gorgeous stretch of Caribbean beach on a beautiful island with mind boggling blue tourquoise aqua marine waters. If you can't enjoy a shore day here from a cruise ship you are spoiled with high expectations whereas coming from a cold climate like us from Canada you are mesmerized with the beauty and charm of these Caribbean beaches and take away stunningly vivid colorful memories and photos. I would definately reccomend this gorgeous beach not too far from the cruise port so you can get there fast and enjoy a longer time on the beach. Trust me you will love it.

Antigua is one of my favourite Caribbean islands, the people are so kind and helpful, friendly and safe. This trip was my second to Antigua and it won't be my last,we went there 10 years ago and we will go back,we where staying at dickensons bay,the sand is so clear and soft except sometimes you get seaweed washing ashore, the water has all the aqua colours to treat your eyes.if you walk to the village store you can get groceries and drinks for a cheaper price then your hotel.the bay has 2 restaurants to choose from with affordable pricing.on the beach you have a local artist with paintings of the island you have to check it out.i found that renting a car is cheaper then taking a taxi,so we rented a car for 2 days and did our own tours it was much more economical.walk the beach it's long and pretty or swim the lovely waters dickensons bay is one of the best choices.

we went to dickenson bay antigua. found prices very high. went into the village grocery and liquor store behind the limes restaurant. fabulous fresh homemade giant pieces of quiche. got two drinks and two quiche from a lovely lady and paid less than a price for a taco from the limes restaurant. go to the village grocery for your snacks and beach drinks. she has beer, little bottles of rum and you can make your own delicious drinks without the high beach restaurant prices.

Should I have not visited better beaches at Barbados and Isla Margarita, this would be five stars. What makes the slight difference is that the sea here is too calm. I’d like to see a bit more waves to body surf on. More serious handicap was that I did not hear any steel drumming. Let’s say that this is a bit too sedate for men like me who always stay boys regardless of age, btw still a bit below 70. The benefit is of course that the beach is idiot safe. No need to have a wife to watch one’s gold plated watch, cruise card and a purse of forty dollars while in water. Except the slight dullness this is as perfect as the best beaches I have visited.

Snacks and drinks are served swiftly with the original Caribbean style saying that you better be satisfied. It does not help stating that they are three times cheaper in Finland or six times cheaper in USA.
