“Hard work but worth the effort”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

We drove up in a hired RAV4 which is kind of a 4x4 and we struggled at several points due to the steepness of the road and the lack of power from the car. Upon reaching the top I noticed the front tyres virtually had no tread left but thankfully it was dry. Going down was seat belts off and doors unlocked in case we needed to get out the vehicle in a hurry. This road is not for the faint hearted. The road is tight and difficult to turn. The views at the top however were superb. If the gates are locked and they probably will be there are two tracks either side that will take you to a couple of excellent vantage points and you can see almost the whole island. If you have a 2WD car you can park it about a quarter of the way up and walk the rest. DO NOT risk driving unless you're in the right vehicle and are confident at driving on roads like this - at several points you have to commit yourself or you'll be in trouble. Worth it if you do for the views.

“Worth the trip if you're looking for a good sweat”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Firstly, you don't need a guide to go up this peak as there is a paved road all the way up to the top. Second, do not drive up this paved road unless you have a decent 4X4. I hiked up this peak and honestly would not recommend anyone going up via motor vehicle. There are prolonged distances of steepness to the top. View is photo-worthy from the top. I was more into checking of my list of Caribbean peaks (Mount Liamuiga - St. Kitts, Mount Nevis - Nevis, Mount Christoffel - Curacao, Mount Saint Catherine - Grenada, Gros Piton - St. Lucia & El Yunque - Puerto Rico).

“Amazing view but 4x4 very necessary!”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Firstly, a word of warning. If your guide book suggests a trip up Boggy Peak (or Mount Obama as it is somewhat sycophantically been re-named) and doesn't mention that a 4x4 is absolutely required then throw your guide book in the bin. The road is very steep and badly maintained in many places, to the extent that getting a normal car up here would be dangerous.

If you don't have access to the C&W station when you do get to the top you can walk around the edge of the fenced area to get some pretty amazing views over the island.

“Fun Mountain Drive”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Don't get discouraged when you get to the top and see the do not enter sign. Get out and hike a few extra steps. Not recommended unles you are familiar with off road driving as road is very steep in parts and there is nowhere to turn around safely.
