“Best Beach in Antigua”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

We visited many beaches in December '13 and Darkwood was our favorite. Perfect turquoise water, soft sand and the bar restaurant was reasonable and tasty. We did see some local tour guides dropping off some groups there, but there's plenty of room and shade.

“O.M.G. Stunning is not a good enough start”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

Spent a stunning day at Darkwood Beach in Antigua. It was the beach recommended by our taxi driver. And he was right. It looks just like a typical tropical beach. There's a bar selling tasty food and drink, toilets and changing facilities. Sunbeds and shade are plentiful. White sand and blue/green water. A slightly steep sand step to the water was the only slight down side. No Halley Berry moment here. Well worth a visit.

“Really nice, private beach.”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

One of our favorites on Antigua. Long, nice sand, only a few people near the restaurant/bar. No noise, dirt, vendors. Water was clear, clean. No weeds. Surf was a bit rough as its open direct to the ocean without a reef, but a great place to soak up some sun. You can park far away at west end and be alone, or lime at the rum bar with the locals. Only complaint was thorny vines along the road area and lack of shade anywhere. But would go back!

“Private beach”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

With no cruise ships in the week we were there we had Darkwood to ourselves one day. As all beaches in Antigua the sand was powdery white and the crystal blue water allowed you to see the bottom pretty far out. A beautiful secluded spot with a bar at one end for cold beers on a hot sunny day.

“Great beach for a relaxing day with the kids.”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

Superb stretch of Caribbean white sand, with just enough in the way of refreshment/shade, without it turning a beatiful natural spot into Disneyland. On the other side of the road is also a wonderful lagoon from which you can watch an exciting range of local wildlife.
