“Nice place, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2014

It was a nice place almost next to a beach. 5-10min walk to different restaurants. It was good place to meet locals/foreigners moved in Anguilla. Staff was helpful and breakfast ok. Rooms were clean and nice.

My husband and I came to Anguilla for the first time after vacationing for several years in St. Maarten. Because we booked late in the season, we had a difficult time finding a room in the more popular hotels and ended up booking at Lloyd's Bed & Breakfast after a tip from friends. I must admit that after a week in a St. Maarten beach resort - Lloyd's was a bit of a culture shock. This being said - after four glorious days on the Island - I am so thankful for our stay at this absolutely charming little hotel.

The rooms are clean and bright (ladies - there are no in room hair-dryers) and the staff is wonderful. Breakfast is served every morning in a cheery, airy dining room adjacent to the sitting room. Because Lloyd's is situated in The Valley, it is a must to have a car which you can rent very reasonably right at Lloyds and it gave us a chance to venture out and enjoy the entire Island which we may not have done otherwise had we stayed at a resort. We will be back next year!

We stayed at Lloyds for a week in Feb 2014 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The hotel is located near Crocus Bay which has a small and beautiful beach with a fantastic beach restaurant and kayaking and snorkeling loan facilities. Crocus bay is pretty much in the centre of the island and makes for a great place to set up camp ready to explore.

The hotel itself is charming and feels really intimate. The rooms are simple but comfortable and are decorated in traditional Caribbean colours.

Breakfast is served by a wonderful Anguilla lady called Merlin who speaks in dulcet Caribbean tones to the guests about their day and is always available to offer advice on what to do and see next.

All staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. As new explorers of the island we did not pre book a hire car (an absolute essential if you are to make the most of your time in Anguilla). One staff member spent a good twenty minutes ringing around the island trying to find us a car which was extremely helpful and much appreciated.

Lloyds is a lovely home from home and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a true sense of the charm of the people that live in Anguilla.

Ok, so the islands all have their share of gaudy timeshares, and sprawling resorts. If that's appealing to you, stay away from Lloyd's - because this place actually has some character and characters staying here. It's legit, and real travelers abound here. The folks who work here are just lovely and the whole experience feels like family.

Spent 12 nights in this laid back but very attentive bed and breakfast. Most of our fellow guests have been staying here for years. Each morning Merline would great us, eager to hear of our adventures the day before and ready to cook us a full breakfast. Her manner was refreshing, warm and welcoming but polite and formal in a traditional West Indies style. Given encouragement we were lucky to hear stories of what it was like growing up on the island. We rented a car from Lloyd's which is highly recommended - although the beach down the road is beautiful (Crocus Bay) you really want to venture out spending days exploring Mead Bay, Rendezvous Bay, Maundays Bay just to name a few. For a price that includes full breakfast and a easy to rent car at a reasonable price - you won't find anything else to compare. It is centrally located and driving on the left was easy to navigate since the island is flat for the most part and roads are wider than some places we've been (i.e.Dominica).

I just returned from by fifth stay at Lloyds which is the oldest hotel on Anguilla. It is located on my favorite beach Crocus Bay. While Anguilla is known as a very pricey and exclusive island, Lloyds Guest House is perfect for the "everyman". It is in a village which is very safe, therefore offering a cultural experience. Walk the road parallel to the water in the morning for frequent rainbow sightings or walk down the hill to the Bay for swimming in calm water, casual dining with live music on Sundays, and an elegant first class restaurant for evening dining. Lloyds provides a full breakfast at no extra cost and will cater to vegetarian needs. So you can get all three meals here, or opt for CeBlue's pizza on the cliff with a gazillion dollar view, very romantic and live entertainment.

All of this you can do without renting a car and there is another beach for the adventurous to walk to but of course I do recommend a car to see all of this lovely slice of heaven in the Caribbean. Lloyds also provides a daily carafe of fresh water, has 2 porches for enjoying the trade winds, and a stairs to a rooftop with table and seats for stargazing or rainbow watching. The hostesses will treat you with gracious respect and since many business folk stay here as well, the breakfast "social hour" can be very interesting indeed. This is a well maintained property and the best value on Anguilla.

Room Tip: If you book early, ask if Miss Vida's room is available.

We were attracted to Anguilla for the beautiful beaches and we were not disappointed. Because we are on a fixed income and elderly we decided on Lloyd's. You cannot beat the price plus the service and breakfasts are incredible. Merlin the lovely lady who is in charge and served us breakfast every morning was just the most wonderful hostess and could not do enough for us. The other two ladies, one did the cooking and the other one was there later in the day were great also. The location was great in that we could walk down the hill for the local beach and restaurants. We did not want to rent a car ( they drive on the left) so we used the local taxi's. The hill to the beach was steep on the way back so we were able to mention that we were staying at Lloyd's and always got a free ride up the hill. The hill was not bad if you were younger but not at our age. DaVida's restaurant on the local beach is fabulous and the grill that is next door and open for lunch great also. It was a fantastic two weeks and would recommend it to any age. Carol and Larry from PA.

Room Tip: After viewing the rooms online we decided to stay in Gratitude ( the 13 rooms are named and are all...
