Owner description: Four levels of interactive exhibits and two high definition award-winning shows tell the story of Canada's deadliest rockslide. On April 29 in 1903, 90 million tons of rock fell from Turtle Mountain and buried part of the coal mining town of Frank. Most of the 100 people in the path of the slide were killed. First-hand accounts, dramatic images and talented guides bring emotion to this remarkable and tragic event. Open daily year 'round. Another fantastic interpretive centre. It ranks with Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump. The slide is overwhelming in it's sadness.

“Extremely interesting!”

This is a beautiful interpretive centre with a very sad but interesting story to tell. Although the focus is the Frank Slide, the history of the area and its people and dinosaurs before them are well worth the entry fee.

“Worth the stop!”

We stopped here on our way from Radium Hot Springs to Waterton Lakes National Park. It was well signed and had lots of free parking. You can walk out to the observation decks without paying admission to the visitor centre and read all of the interpretive panels for the story of the Frank Slide while you are looking at the huge debris pile. We did not have time to tour the visitor centre, but the guide gave us a talk anyway and he was very informative. They have 2 movies you could watch in there as well as some very interesting looking displays. There is a charge for the visitor centre.

“Very educational and unique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

It was really unique to visit Frank Slide. I was sort of speechless actually. It is a very tragic part of Canadian History being Canada's Deadliest Rock Slide, but at the same time it's very educational and I don't know any other place like this.
I didn't get a chance to go into the Interpretive Centre because it was closed by the time I arrived there, but the best views are from the boardwalk just beside the Interpretive Centre.

Feel free to view some of my pictures of Frank Slide and a video clip I took of the area:

“Definately worth a stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

This interpretive center is great and very well run. It really captures the story around Frank Slide and is in a very pleasant building. The area is gorgeous, and there are great trails to follow around the center. Be sure to journey through the boulders.
