Have just returned from 2 weeks staying at Casale Villarena in a two bedroom apartment, La Vetara. After negotiating the many hair pin bends we arrived in Nerano,a small village with two local shops a church and spectacular views. We received a very warm welcome and much needed jug of fresh lemonade. Apartment on the top floor (lots of steps) with lovely terrace overlooking the sea where we often sat to eat of drink. Comfortable with air conditioning in bedrooms Ate in the restaurant on several occasions and food was amazing. Also booked Friday pizza night and this was delicious too. Swimming pool was very welcome after a days sightseeing and beach (stony) at Marina del Cantone a short drive away. Highlight was a boat trip along the Amalfi Coast where we stopped to swim and snorkel, enjoyed a great lunch and had a couple of hours to explore Amalfi. All organised by owner Guglielmo and nothing too much trouble. A fantastic, unspoiled treasure of a place, with excellent food and amazing location. Thank you Guglielmo and your team x

We went with a group and had a cooking lesson and it was great fun! All the staff was wonderful -- cannot say enough nice things about them as well as our cooking and dining experience. We learned to make eggplant parmesan, gnocchi, limoncello and tiramisu AND then we dined upon our creation. Really a lot of fun!

Room tip: We were here for the cooking lesson which I would highly recommend.

A week of beautiful weather was the ‘icing on the cake’ of our family holiday in Nerano. The Hotel Villarreal was a good choice for our relaxed time together; we were staying in a family apartment and a double room. Different levels and quiet areas make both for personal space and communal activities.
The hotel is set some way up from the beautiful beach area, with a good range of restaurants but it is walkable. Local buses run quite regularly up and down the hill but not on an evening. You will need a car if you intend to explore further, though buses will get you in/out of Sorrento quite easily. Boat trips to Capri, Amalfi and Positano can be arranged either through the hotel or from the beach. We saw several walkers at the hotel during our stay.
Breakfasts in the hotel were good, with some egg- based options on offer too. We also ate several evening meals (as a family) in the restaurant - all of which were good. There is no menu as such - possible main options are discussed with you earlier in the day and arrive on the plate beautifully cooked. Prices for the hotel rooms, the larger apartments and evening meals are all modest for the area.
Children are made very welcome and Rosa (as has been said by others) is a gem. Nothing is too much trouble for her.

We spent 5 days at Casale to end our 2 week girl's trip through Italy and it was absolutely perfect. Rosa was a huge help in helping to coordinate it all which included transportation to Casale. We decided to stop in Pompei for a couple hour tour on our way down from Naples and Rosa helped arrange the whole thing. Upon arrival, Guglielmo was there to greet us and instantly we felt at home. The room was very spacious and clean. We stayed in Il Gallo Lungo and that was very spacious for us 4. It had a big kitchen with the basics to prep meals, even though we never used it as we were always out exploring or eating downstairs at the amazing restaurant on site. Rosa and Guglielmo arranged for a boat excursion which included snorkeling in exclusive coves, view of the beautiful Almafi coastline and even a stop in Positano for some shopping! During our stay, we also did the amazing Wine Tasting in Guglielmo's cellar as well as Pizza Night which was yet another amazing night of delicious food. The beach is walkable with clear waters which we were able to enjoy a couple days. Casale Villarena truly is a hidden gem and we can't wait to go back and visit! Many friends and family are already planning on visiting after we came home truly in love with this place. You will not regret it!

What a wonderful, wonderful place to holiday. We stayed here for 2 weeks, and were able to visit various attractions nearby. The staff were amazing in particular the proprietor Guglielmo and his lovely assistant Rosa! Guglielmo just oozes hospitality - he is passionate about giving his guests a fantastic experience, especially when it comes to food and wine. He also tailor made a couple of boat trip excursions for us, including his lovely lunch on board - and ensured on a personal level that our experiences were unforgettable. We shall always think fondly about our time at Casale Villarena, and hope to return one day. A top team and would recommend anytime! The only thing I could possible add on a helpful note to those booking, is this is steep terrain - lots of steps and steep, uneven paths, so would not be suitable for those who are unfit or struggling with their mobility.

Room tip: Make sure you let them know if you are tall when you book!
