“Ok But Not 4 Star”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

We have just got back from an overnight stay in The Parkway, the hotel is very pleasant, the rooms are dated and the tv in our room came out of the ark, now we don't go away to watch the tv but if there is one we will turn it on whilst in the room, the one in our room was clearly on it's way out very interesting assortment of colours across the screen and the peoples faces were predominantley green! This was reported and on returning from breakfast we found a maintenance man in our room who told us there was no problem with our lights we weren't using the correct switches? when he consulted his book he realised he should have been checking the tv, he said he would deal with it, I wonder how many times that has been said?

The carvery we had was very good but spoilt by overly salty gravy and the breakfast again a good selection but plastic sausages and cheap catering bacon not what is expected of a 4 star hotel.

On returning to the bar area and using a table we had vacated some 90 minutes earlier we were surprised to find reamins of our afternoon tea still on the table and the floor. (Cress and lettuce)

The pool is good but the changing rooms very small and drab and the shower by the jacuuzi was out of order.

We had our booking at a special price and for what we paid we were more than happy but if we had paid full price we wouldn't have been quite so happy also if you are used to 4 star accomodation be warned we have stayed in a lot better.

Dear taffswife,

Thank you for taking the time to put your critique on Tripadvisor. Many of the comments and observations you made we would agree with and I am delighted to inform you that the hotel was purchased by the De Savary family at the beginning of this year.

We are now embarking on a full refurbishment programme with a substantial investment which will address many of the points you raised. In brief, I could highlight that the hotel is purchasing new beds and bed linen with a duvet standard throughout and all televisions are being also updated.

I do hope that you will be able to return later in the year and see for yourself the many improvements that will have been made.

Once again thank you for taking the time to highlight your points.

Booked the Pembroke Suite for a 50th birthday party. Surroundings were lovely, food excellent and staff extremely helpful. Many guests commented on the all round quality of the venue. Highly recommended. Many thanks.

We spent New Years Eve at the Parkway and what a wonderful night it was. 6 course dinner, bavarian theme, singer and disco. The food was of a high quality, the service exemplary and the overnight accommodation was comfortable, attractive and 'quaint. The New Years Day buffet breakfast was plentiful. We had no complaints and only but praise and wonderful memories. I would recommend the hotel for an overnight stay or a gala New Years Eve get together with fmaily and friends.

This is a wonderful hotel. We spent Christmas 2012 there and have never been looked after so well. We've already booked our next stay. The staff were welcoming, courteous and very happy. The food was good, with plenty of variety. Our room was immaculate and had everything we needed. Although the hotel was full, there were plenty of comfortable chairs/sofas in communal areas. The leisure suite was impressive and popular. Good corporate facilities were clearly available.

I stayed at this hotel for two weeks as a base for training, returning home at weekend. The first week went without a hitch with very pleasant courteous staff with excellent food and immaculate room.
The second week unfortunately had a slight issue with lack of hot water in my room, however the staff (craig in particular) were quick to move me to a new room and all was good with the world again. The owner (Ian I seem to remember?) even took the time to find me out and speak to me which was very much appreciated..... oh.... forgot to mention the breakfast.... most excellent :-)

Overall this hotel is extremely welcoming and one to be strongly considered..... well done and thankyou..

Room Tip: A long trek if end up at the end of the corridors.....and room at the back of the hotel very quiet a...
