“Great location for a day in Cardiff”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

This Premier Inn is very convenient for getting the train straight into Cardiff. The train station is a 5 minute walk away and as the end of the train line is at Ebbw Vale, the train is nice and quiet to get on here!

The staff here were very friendly from when we first checked-in until we left 2 days later, they were all very helpful and provided excellent customer service. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Our room faced the main road but we were not disturbed by any traffic noise at all.

We chose to have breakfast on one of our morning's here but unfortunately, the staff could not have been more different from the Premier Inn itself. Our breakfast was very poorly cooked and as there was a long delay on receiving it as well, we almost missed our train. When we returned from our stay, we did contact Premier Inn to complain which we don't normally do but we felt that we had spend £17 on breakfast with nothing to show for it. The customer service again was excellent in handling our complaint and gave us a voucher to compensate for our disappointment.

Overall, I would recommend this Premier Inn for a good value stay with convenient transport links into the centre of Cardiff.

Premier Inns tend to be "run of the mill" however the one in Ebbw Vale should be a case study in excellent customer service. Both members of staff on reception couldn't do enough for us and our family!

Nothing to really complain about wrt staff and accommodation - all staff that spoke to us were friendly without trying to talk too much for the sake of being friendly. Rooms and shower/toilet were very clean, dust free and in good repair.

My only complaint was about external noise . We sleep with the window open - 2 adults, 1 teenager - the room (24 & 25 Oct) was too warm for us so we had to open the window anyway. I was surprised at the constant shushing of the passing traffic on the road on the far side of the car park - it wasn't "very busy" but just kept going all night so I lost some sleep in the early hours because of that and because of inconsiderate people seeming to slam car doors in the early hours.I noticed quite a few white vans on the car park so heard what I thought was large doors and roller shutters slamming and goods in the back of the vans being moved around. I'm not sure the hotel can do very much about this - I felt like I could easily have complained or maybe asked to be moved to another room - maybe I should have done but next time I'd like to stay on the side of the hotel opposite to the car park. I was so pleased with everything I just didn't like to complain - the hotel was better than nearly all of the Travelodges I have stayed in (and there have been many) and if the price is right, I would book Premier Inn in preference to Travelodge having only used Travelodge for the past 10 years - this was my first Premier Inn stay. I would have no hesitation in staying at Ebbw Vale again - it is so close to he Breacon Beacons where were were walking (typically 25mins to the start of our walks).

Room Tip: Choose a room on the opposite side of the building to the car park.

I had booked this hotel about a week before our trip. We were made welcome by the receptionist. She was very helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recomment this hotel and would certainly stay there again.

This hotel is great for those travelling around Ebbw Vale. Clean and very friendly staff and a great nights sleep in this quiet town's valleys.

The restaurant opposite has equally great staff and is a friendly place to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. We stay here a lot and would recommend.

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The place seems to be absolutely lost at first glance, but then you notice a lot things that surprise you every day.
Hotel is nothing special (clean rooms, good air, quiet environment), except for the staff: you are always welcomed personally, followed by a nice small talk. You feel the friendliness and dignity of people who live and work in the valley.
Breakfasts were in the restaurant across the parking. Very good service, also good meals are served in the evening. Don't waste your time going up to city center: there is nothing up there. Just so some walking around the hotel area.
Hotel is reachable by train from Cardiff. Trains depart every hour and station is just 3 minutes walk. Shopping in the outlets seems to be also interesting, but I did not have the time for that. Also not far and reachable on foot in 20 minutes. Open times until 5:30pm and 7pm on Thursday.
