“Splendid Evening”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

This hotel/restaurant has been lovingly restored in recent years by new owners who take great pride in everything. Menu sounded delicious and food did not disappoint. Can't wait to return.

“A rather special place”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

A real gem in a lovely country/coastal area.

Really relaxing with food and service of a very high standard.

Comfortable lounge for an aperitif and coffee after your meal, which will be cooked with flair.

A great place that is hard to fault.

“Great Food, reasonably priced”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

A small choice on the menu, but the lack of quantity was more than compensated for by the quality. After my Queen scallops starter, beautifully cooked and presented, I had a bouillabaisse with cod and red mullet. This was extremely tasty, and unexpected, although it shouldn't have been with their access to fresh fish. But the real triumph was my wife's lamb, locally sourced and totally succulent. The small wine list was idiosyncratic, representing the personal taste of Andrew and Max, the owners, and how nice not to see an extravagant mark-up. It was also nice to see some local Devon wines included. The vegetables were all from the restaurant's garden - beautifully fresh and cooked. This is a restaurant which prides itself on supporting local producers, and the chef is to be congratulated.

“Quality dining in great surroundings”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Cross Lane has been turned into a great little restaurant with rooms. Tasteful décor helps create a relaxing atmosphere for dining out. The food was a delight and portions were just right with a good choice on each course. Discrete but attentive staff made us feel really welcome, although I could have done without the " Bon appetite". I appreciate the sentiment but we are in England not France. All in all somewhere really good to eat in an otherwise culinary wilderness.

“Such a lovely dinner”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

We really enjoyed our visit to Cross Lane House. We were welcomed by young Tom and he Andrew and Max looked after us so well. The food looked beautiful and tasted wonderful. It is a very attractive place and we imagined the hotel part of the building would be equally lovely. We would love to visit again. Wish it was nearer to home! Thank you!
