Before winter set in had to swim in the sea so I found a clean safe beach with lifeguards called Sea Palling in Norfolk. I got 8 swims in then it rained so we set off on a Nature boat trip on The Broads at Horsey. Ross, our guide, should have been on 'Countryfile' he was so knowledgeable and amusing. The children adored him as he joked with them about putting their life jackets on and he even allowed them to bring the boat up to the bank. We saw Marsh Harriers and sandpipers and there are Otters too. We then walked across the road and took a footpath to a wonderful beach which was full of seals. After an enjoyable beer at The Nelson, a very quirky pub nearby, we adjourned to the perfect B and B called Willow Tree Barns which is run by the best owners in the Business, John and Innes. Theybwere so welcoming and the locally sourced tbreakfasts were amazing...

We are NT members (and local) so visit here quite a lot, but it is not an expensive day/morning out anyway. The wind pump itself is a lovely historic building, my kids and OH climbed it but the stairs were too scary for me (woos!), there are lovely walks to be had along the river and around the surrounding fenland area and there is a very friendly and helpful man running the teashop. He told us about the walk down to the beach where you can see the seals, so beautiful with their big eyes watching you carefully as you walk along the beach. All in all a very varied day out!

Original windpump used to drain the fens, now kept as an attraction. Great little piece of English history. A steep climb to the top but well worth it. Also locally the beach, quite a long walk but with the added attraction of seals!

What a lovely time we had at the National Trust Horsey windmill. Car park just a couple of pounds and a little thatched hut serving teas, delicious cakes, scones, ice creams etc by a lovely, friendly chap who obviously loves this place. Lots of lovely walks, especially the long walk to the beach to see the seals - it's worth it!
Wonderful views from the wind pump (£2)a place to put your walking shoes on and spend a good few hours.
