Being a spoilt brat and usually going to 5* all inclusive hotels, this was a big change for me, but I thought I would give it a go. I've got to say I'm really glad I did. OK, so the rooms are very basic and dated, and to be honest need some TLC, but I had a great time and we are even going back for a kid free few days in October.
The pool was big enough for a play about with the kids and for a quiet swim i the morning and the pool area was kept clean and tidy. My only real complaint was that the lift only worked for 4 days out of the 14 and we were on the 4th floor !
The staff are great. especially Harry and Julie - both of who work non-stop (especially Harry!) to keep everyone happy. Harry is a real sweetie - mad as a box of frogs, but lovely never the less. Boris is cute and loves to wander around having a chat, the other one is Danny- who I woud keep your daughter, mother, granddaughter and grandmother away from - a real irritating poser who is more concerned with strutting around oiling himself up, sleazing around available girls and sitting on facebook, than actually doing any work- down right lazy ! Good job there is Harry and Julie or nothing would get done!
As for location, it couldn't really be any better. Just a few minutes walk from Dolphin Square with all the bars, restaurants and beach. The Dolmus stops just at the end of the road to take you to any of the other beaches, Apollos temple and waterpark. There are also some lovely bars and restaurants on the street of the hotel.
We ate in the hotel a few times and it was lovely. There is a BBQ once a week and a Mezze night, both had loads of food and we really enjoyed them. The prices are reasonable too, one night there was a 3 course meal (t-bone steak) for YTL27 (about £10).
There is loads to do in and around Altinkum, lots of trips and tour agencies who organise everything for you. ASEM, love tours and Zaza tours are good. Most of the bars try to have some kind of entertainment to keep you there - dancing boys and girls, quizzes, kareoke - you know the sort of stuff.
All in all the Atlantik gave us a holiday that was fun, relaxing and where we met some great new freinds. I will definately be returning. Just remember- you are paying between £4 and £10 a night pp for the hotel - don't expect the Ritz, expect a basic, clean, friendly little hotel and you wont be dissapointed!
