With the Olympics this year we had decided on a half term holiday. We wanted somewhere that would be a great place to chill with the hope of sun. There were four of us travelling, two adults and two teenagers. On the whole we were pleased with the weather, 4 out of the 7 seven days proved to be nice and hot, but there was very very little to do in the hotel on the cooler days. Everything was closed. This was very frustrating because our tour operator never sold the holiday on this basis. In fact they even offered an excursion that we could buy before travelling which was in fact finished anyway and not running! The hotel were running very low on everything, clearly not wanting to spend out on us, the new holiday makers, as they were closing straight after we left. There was very very limited entertainment (none on some evenings), limited same old food. In fact on our first day we actually watched the workers closing down areas that other holiday makers had enjoyed which included sunbeds on the beach and other eating areas. We witnessed other very disappointed holiday makers, fights in the restaurant over the poor food, and very bored children.
This hotel had been recommended to me before we travelled. Clearly in peak season it works much better than it does end of season. Altinkum itself was very very quiet, so there really wasn't much to do outside the hotel either. The Aqua-park and funfair had all closed for the winter. I would advise that families think very carefully before travelling out of season.
Also, take your own first aid kit......there was no assistance here for a plaster!
Room was nice and clean though!

bad hotel. good pool and a fantastic private beach. good sport facilities. staff could have been more helpful and my son felt the kids club ruined it.he also caught his toe and the doctor was useless.lift got stuck a lot.not much entertainment.bad food nothing for kids and not much English meals area not good only one market which was the only decent thing. miles away from bodrum airport about two hours ten minutes(it felt longer).

Room Tip: rooms facing the pool will get sun and you will have excellent views of the coast line and sea

we went in the last week of the season, and the weather was windy a few days, but there was a hurricane in other parts of the world, so possibly this was the reason. The animation team was not as active as they seemed in the reviews, kids club locked up half way through the week, and there was a full on fight between dining manager and guests by Thursday, but to be honest, we had a wonderful time. They pulled their thumbs out and started icecream time by Tuesday, and the food tho repetitive, was very delicious and with a huge spread to choose from each day. Fresh food like bread, pides, pancakes, omlettes, etc at most meals, only breaskfast was a bit dull and perhaps disappointing.
Our rooms were fab, the maid was sweet and made bedding art - when we tipped her enough - and the kids loved that. Spent most of the time on the beach when the weather permitted. Took the buses into town a few times and enjoyed a haggle and browse, tho not really interested in all the chavvy branded fake things in the shopping centre. Saturday Market well worth a trip, but not the organised trip, just take the bus. Kids loved the playground, the swing, the cats and kittens, the disco, and the kids club when it was open too.

Room Tip: We stayed in family room 537, it was fab tho never did get the air con figured, just opened the balc...

I know it was end of season and most of Altinkum was shutting down, but this hotel could have, and should have been better than it was.
The staff were okay, friendly and helpful, but were let down by the food.
Breakfast time involved looking at the soup from the night before, and having to cut chunks of margarine out of a big block due to no butter being available.
The salad and food dishes on offer were repetitive and often bought out at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The same dishes!!
Cooked food in the afternoon was often left out for an hour or more, uncovered. Not the greatest.
The evening entertainment was dire at best.
4 nights out of our 7 involved the same fella, in the same shirt, and the same awful dross.
We found ourselves eating out in town due to the repeating, dull food offered, and thank goodness we did.
TOPKAPI restaurant is one place anyone who goes to Altinkum should visit.
great food, good atmosphere and great staff.
Take a bow Ergin, Chico (Where the hell he gets his energy from is a true mystery) and Umit !!!

I went here in September 2012. It was without a doubt the best holiday I have ever had!! The staff were so helpful and friendly and the hotel was spotless. There is something for everyone in this hotel... water slides, baby pool, main pool, quiet pool and a private beach.
The entertainment was fabulous! Rio and the gang that were the animation team at the hotel made this holiday sooo much fun. The entertainment went on throughout the day and into the night so it was suited to all audiences. They were brilliant at entertaining the children (especially Kiko), dancing around the pool at 10 am!!

The food was brilliant but slightly repetitive. However, in saying this we never ate out of the hotel once because it was very nice!

It was end of season when we visited this hotel.... you wouldn't have known!! I'm definitely going back next year.... maybe twice :)

i read the reviews before departing. Yes the flight is long as is the transfer but don't complain if this is a surprise simply because you haven't done your homework. The hotel was lovely, the maids were brilliant - making a lovely display involving my daughter's birthday cards.

yes it was the end of the season but it was no worse for that, i didn't need need a kids club as i was a more than happy to entertain my daughter. We met some delightful and wonderful families and as it was end of season we could ensure the same places at meal times and at pool side. Yes the pools were cold but it didn't matter as what was more important was securing the same place each day.

There was no queues for food or hassles about securing pool lounges, that is priceless. Evefry day there is no worry about finding a place by the pool. the key value is that we could sit by the same families each day and that ensured our daughter had a wonderful holiday.

food; not a big problem, get there early to ensure a max choice: keep an open mind - you're on holiday, not in a cafe at home. if you expect a british cuisine with all the limitations that implies then you can find your needs met if you go off site or just stay at home or go to blackpool.

Benefits of at end of season - pool empty, restaurant empty, beach empty. hotel - super clean.

down side - wasps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! use your flip flop ninja style to kill them
#
beach - stony and very brief

local area - all res units

not a holiday if you want a quit on arived and got a room on the 5 floor we asked for no steps the bath was that high you had to get a stool to get in, the rooms you were ether looking over the sea or the back yard , food was cold the only thing that was free was drink if thy had any left of whot you wanted and food so it was a good job there was a cafe at the side of the hotel cost very little but when you are there for 14 days it amounts up, could not have a swim as pool was full all the time with children, spar was a mess it should have been free i love my spars but even i could not go in there, we had booked to go to another hotel but was rung up at the last min to say we had been moved. SHALL NOT GO AGAIN PAYED ALL THAT MONEY FOR NOTHING DO NOT GO THERE
