“Worst accommodation ever in Turkey”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

The Nazar Hotel is not apartments or studios it is basically a budget hotel. It offers B&B and Half Board. This accommodation is very obviously for Turkish Holidaymakers as the breakfast and dinners were of the Turkish variety. The breakfasts were edible as we had the choice of cold boiled eggs cereal and toast, the dinners however were terrible no choice of menu at all and the main course served on a tea plate. As we had paid for this facility we did try to eat them but gave up after twice and ate our dinners at local restaurants. The rooms were basic but clean, the pool was ok but very smelly as next door was a sewage plant and in the hot weather was not pleasant at all. The staff we believe must have been trained not to be pleasant to visitors and not to smile, the only helpful person was the receptionist. If you are British think twice about staying at The Nazar it will spoil your holiday. The noise from adjacent restaurants until at least 1 a.m. was deafening no chance of sleep until they closed.

Just came back from here it's a nice clean hotel in a very good central location, reception staff were very nice and helpfull room was clean and towels etc replaced every 3 days although you can put out a card on the back of the door handle if you want it cleaned more often, has a television which I didn't use as I was never in during the day only for a shower for going out at night, toilet area and shower is small but very clean only thing is it has a marble shelf in shower and you have to be careful not to hit your head but all in all a very pleasant stay here and I would book it again.

We have just got back from a 2 week holiday staying at the Nazar. And as usual we have had an amazing time. We have stayed here 2 times before and have never had a problem. The staff were all the same as on previous years, they couldn't have been any better. So friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The cleaners changed the bedding and towels and emptied the bins twice a week. If you want them to come in and clean, make the beds, empty the bins etc more often just remember to put the sign on your door. The cleaners have all also been there for years and although they don't speak English , they too are very pleasant.
The Nazar has a good location close to the beach, restaurants, bars and shopping centre.
Nic's place (restaurant) is nice over the road, and Big nose Bar on the corner is also really good.
The pool area is just about the right size and very clean. The café area is also good with lovely food at reasonable prices. They also do nice meals in the evening if you decide to stay at the hotel for tea.
Air conditioning is available at a cost of £4 a day, this can be purchased at any point during your holiday. Wifi is available from reception who are more than happy to help.

We will definitely be going again next year. Missing the hotel and staff already.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are quieter at night time although we had a room on the front on the fourth floor...

I usually stay at the Burak, but because of booking 4 weeks before departure it was fully booked.
I wouldn't stay at the Nazar again. We had room 107 on the ground floor rught at the end of the corridor. When we opened the balcony door we were presented with razor wire on top of the wall facing us as well as the back of someone's house.
The bin in the bathroom ( used for toilet paper) was only emptied once, which in my view is not very hygienic with regards to what its used for. Twice we had to go to reception and ask for toilet roll as it was only replenished once a week.
Staff unfriendly and miserable. Terrible smell of sewerage by the pool.
On the plus side ..... Mattress for the sunbeds were free.

We booked this hotel by way of a late checkout, having stayed at the Burak for 10 nights. We had room 105 ground floor. After staying at the Burak, we found the Nazar's rooms much larger and less basic. The shower was a 100% improvement.

Having read previous reviews regarding the drain smells, I can only say that during our brief stay, there were none.

The only negative point was the view from our balcony. It didnt affect us as it was only one night, but 6 foot of barbed wire fence would not be acceptable if you were there for a week or more.

After many negative reviews on TA I booked with trepidation for a week expecting the worse, and couldn't have been more surprised. Our room/bathroom was spotlessly clean, many on TA said their rooms were never cleaned and I now know the reason why. At the back of the door is a "Do not disturb" sign, but on the back of that is a "Please clean room" sign, and if you put that on the outside of door knob your room will be cleaned EVERY day.

There is WFI in the reception area and many books available to borrow.

The air con is £4 a day, and I would advise that you get it at the start of your stay because you can't if you decide you want it half way through. Ensure you stay on the opposite side to reception, because the noise from Big Nose Bar is horrendous. but the sound-proofed glass screens some of it out.

Many reviews complained of the awful smell, in all fairness its not that bad, and is not the hotel's fault. There is the main sewerage tank for Altinkum at the side of the hotel, and you get a slight whiff of it only now and again, but not at all in your room.

All the staff were helpful and unobtrusive. The whole of the hotel is spotlessly clean, as is the poolside. Normally spend majority of hol on the beach, but the pool was so big and nice, with mattresses for the sun beds and sun canopies, we spent the whole week at the pool. The poolside service was non existent, having to get up and go into the hotel for drinks was a little annoying, but guess its difficult at times to strike a happy balance.

The only downside - no fridges available to hire for room. as Management had had problems in the past with holidaymakers either destroying them or using them to throw through balcony windows.

All in all I would highly recommend this hotel, not only is it good value for money £98 for B&B for 2 people for a week, via Alpharooms.com, it's also very central. I would definitely stay there again, and think it deserves a higher star rating.

Room Tip: Stay on the opposite side of Reception as the rooms are quieter

I booked 10 nights at the Nazar in May 2013, I was in room 214. The bad points 1st: it needs some TLC, the rooms were basic, the bedding needed replacing, as it had holes in and was discoloured. The room was only visited once in the 10 day by the housekeeping/maid service. Also there was NO WIFI, which was disappointing to me as I would have spent more time around the lovely peaceful pool and bar area if there had have been.
Good points: 5 mins to Main beach, shops, bars, restaurants. Very friendly staff, lovely quiet pool and lounge area, comfortable beds. All in all a nice but basic hotel.

Room Tip: Room 214's view was 3 trees, there is no sun on this balcony
