Have been coming here since 2002 and stay 3 nights each visit. Carol is the most fantastic host and we usually get to choose which room we stay in (my husband, myself and our 11 yr old daughter) and we always feel so welcome and at home here. The breakfasts are really filling and you can choose what you would like to eat, homemade fruit cake and pot of tea on arrival is most appreciated! Hope to return in 2013 if Carol continues to keep B&B running, don't know where we will stay if not as can't find anywhere nearby that seems as good!

Just returned from 5 Night stay at this excellent B&B. After staying at Claxton Hall Cottage last summer 2011, we returned ths year, because this is such a quality find. Rooms are a great size and well looked after, breakfast sets you up for the day, large portion and cooked to perfection. One could not wish for a more helpfull host. A great location to visit the yorkshire sights. Sure we will visit again.

My boyfriend and I stopped here last year. Originally had only booked for 1 night while on a roadtrip, but after booking problems with a previous B&B we phoned up Claxton Hall to see if it was possible to stay that night. The owner was a lovely, friendly lady and said it wouldn't be a problem, just turn up. We were highly relieved as it was quite late at night by then. Nothing was a problem for her and we arrived to a lovely cup of tea and cake.
The room was the best i've ever seen in a B&B! Beautiful 4 poster bed, plenty of space and very clean. Breakfast was excellent.
Claxton Hall is a few miles away from York city centre, set in beautiful rural surroundings. Simply a lovely property and would happily stay there again.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights in May 2012, what a excellent place, arrived to Tea/Coffee and home made cake, there was nothing Carol wouldn't do for you. Was happy to oblige with any request's. You could come and go as you pleased. The room was spacious with a four poster bed the mattress was so comfortable we asked where she bought it from. A small settee and flat screen tv. Breakfast each morning was brill, didn't need to eat till later afternoon. Would go back anytime.

We found Claxton Hall Cottage via the internet when we were planning our stay for a friends wedding at the nearby Sandburn Hall. What a fantastic find, nothing was too much trouble for Carol. The welcome was lovely, with a pot of tea and homemade cake, we had only stopped off on route to the reception to drop our stuff off!!
The rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable and modern. The four poster bed is also a lovely touch. Breakfast was really good, with the cooked breakfast exactly as we asked for, cooked freshly for us. Anyone looking for a B&B around York, or looking to explore Scarborough/Bridlington area, is unlikely to find a better B&B and such a good price. We hope to stay again, really lovely stay.

Just returned from a weekend away in York. York is a lovely, lively place, so it was nice to stay at Claxton Hall Cottage for a relaxing break. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean and spacious with a four poster bed and a sofa and flat screen tv. The bathroom was spotless, although we could have done with a little more power in the shower! Carol the owner was welcoming with coffee and homemade cake on arrival. The breakfast was superb, just how we like it, and nothing seemed too much trouble. If we are visiting York again we would definitely stay at Claxton Hall cottage.

Room Tip: If you have the option choose the room at the back, away from the traffic of the A64
