This is the second time i've stayed at Palm Grove, and again the team at Palm Grove made us feel like family, not just hotel guests! We stayed (firstly) in the newly refurbed garden bungalow, and what a great job they've done with it! Neat, tidy, clean, can hear and smell the ocean!
We then moved into Tupe's house, which is a little way up the road, but not too far to feel isolated from the resort.
I LOVED the breakfast offerings from the hotel. The fruit is very much local,(id bet it was picked from their garden every morning) fresh and WAY tastier than anything we can get back home. You can order heavier western breakfasts if you like, but a light breaky was what we opted for in this gorgeous tropical paradise!
Nothing was too much trouble for the team there, from confirming day trips, to simply remembering our names! (The small touches always outweigh the big ones).
LOVED IT - we'll be back

Room Tip: Ask about Tupes house! 2 bedroom house at the same fare!

We booked our trip after months of research. The Palm Grove had everything we needed for nine days (mainly sleeping arrangements for two adults and a 14 year old, air conditioning, pool, kitchen and easy access to a beach). We stayed in a garden bungalow due to price and it worked great. The garden bungalows are tucked back away from the road (read, away from the road noise), but still an easy walk to the beach. There was a table and chairs in the back the looked out over the mountains and it felt like we were the only ones on the island. The rooster did crow early morning, but we have one at home and this guy didn't even measure a blip on our annoyance radar.

The kitchen was microscopic, but we weren't there to be gourmet chefs. Wigmore's was just up the road and had relatively good (for the island) prices on chicken and veggies for dinner. Breakfast was a perfect mix of fruit and breads and cereal. We did try to sneak in before 8:00 (before our Hike with Pa) and we got kicked out with an admonished "in a hurry, always in a hurry". The Yellow Hibiscus was great for dinner, but if you stay for the Sunday BBQ, order the fish. I'm used to farm fed fresh beef and that wasn't it. The nightly entertainment was fantastic. The Friday Happy Hour was even better, but they do cut you off right at 6:00.

Betsy and Joanne help tremendously getting us hooked up with "excursions": Progressive Dinner, Hike with Pa, Takitumu Conservation Area tour with Tom and the rental car (although the rental car place was a little dicey - get a car with air con!). They were happy to answer any questions we had, and we had A LOT!

The best part was the free kayaks at the beach! We took those things out almost every day. The days we didn't take them out, we were snorkeling (and often did both). While we did go to Fruits of Rarotonga and Black Rock and Muri Beach, the best snorkeling by far was right at our own beach. Just standing knee deep in the water, we were met by Picasso Triggerfish, tangs, butterflies, pufferfish and more.

Thanks for a great stay!

Room Tip: The garden bungalows are off the main road and very quiet.

We stayed for 7 days and had a beachfront bungaloo which was fantastic. The snorkelling was excellent and it was great stepping off the deck to the white sands. The rooms are very basic but fine- everything you need for a long stay. The location is really convenient with the bus stopping outside and a supermarket a short walk up the road. Our only complaint was housekeeping wanting to service the rooms at 8-8.30am in the morning. For the first couple of days we sent them away as we were still in bed- it's a holiday! So our room wasn't serviced for about 3-4 days. However to be fair as soon as we mentioned it at reception they came back later 10-11 oclock but a very quick service. No dishes done, benches wiped etc just a change f towels and bed made. Staff were really friendly and the restaurant had a good dinner menu. The Sunday barbq is fantastic and great singers. Roosters are really annoying- start crowing at 3am and keep at it during the day. If we came back then we would invest in earplugs, ask reception if our room could be serviced later in the day and buy bottled water- any drinks including a glass of water by your bed at night will be swarming with ants. rooms could do with a good clean or upgrade and I see that is planned which is good. We have stayed at a lot nicer places for not much more but the beach and snorkelling here is the best in Rarotonga.

What a tropical treasure- I was fortunate to stay in this little gem with it's beautifully laid out garden bungalows a stones through from the goldenest sands I have ever seen.
The garden bungalow was fresh and airey and yet so peaceful. The servicing was daily and always with an island smile.
Live music filtered through the warm evening air on 2 occassions during my stay and with a cocktail in hand I couldn't think of a better place I would rather be.
The famous Hibiscus Omelette was absolutely mouth watering.
The cleanest of waters wrapping around the Palm Grove beach front bures lured me down until after the sun sent down.
Thank you Betsy and staff. Your warmth of character oozes it's magic over your guests.

My wife and I just returned from a two week holiday at Palm Grove. We have been fortunate to have stayed at some of the nicest hotels and resorts in the world, but this was our best holiday ever. The direct beach access from the bungalows is wonderful - putting you only a few steps from beautiful sands and the picture perfect lagoon. The water is clear, warm, and teeming with tropical fish giving some of the best diving and snorkeling i have ever experienced. For those who enjoy just relaxing on the beach the sand is clean, soft and cool even under direct sun (not like those beaches where the silica sand burns your feet!). The management and staff were unfailingly helpful (special thanks to Joanne and Betsy in the office) - great people in a wonderful place! Ten stars out of five! Richard and Anna.
