We had had a quick sneaky look at the Villas on our last trip to Raro and hoped to stay there the next visit - wow, we were not dissapointed in our choice. Right from the moment we contacted Shine and Tara by email to arrival and finally meeting them (along with Simon and the cutest, well behaved children), they were efficient, warm and friendly. The views when you first walk into your villa are just amazing - if you can see passed your hammock swinging gently between two palms in front of the deck - furnished with table and chairs for 6, a day bed and lounger. Good snorkelling, lovely pool for a quick cool off, immaculate gardens. The villas are absolutely spotless - not easy with the sand at your feet the minute you step off your deck. Very comfortably furnished with everything you could possibly need. We have often had issues with beds whilst away - not here, really comfy - although we did have some tiny ants interested in crawling along the back of the bed under the pillows for a couple of nights! Loved the private courtyard each villa has at the rear, containing two person spa, outdoor shower, washing machine, tub and clothes line - doors leading into each of the two bedrooms own bathrooms. Side door so when wet you can walk straight into bathroom rather than traipse through villa. These villas have been so well thought out in design, build (very soundproof) and decor. We did have an incident whilst there which Shine and Simon handled well and in fact beyond what they had to do - thank you! Only things we could possible think of improving on would be - replenishing the cereals, more soap in bathroom or filling the hand soap dispenser and bath towels changing maybe once or twice more (once in 8 days). Would thoroughly recommend (and will be) Cooks Bay Villas to anyone and everyone! Just hope to be able to go back.

We have done a lot of travelling and would have to say these villas are one of the best we have stayed in around the world. They are so well designed, in a prime location on the beach, spotless, friendly staff and have everything that you could possibly need, basically they are a home away from home. On arrival you are given a started pack which includes bread, milk, sugar, jam spreads, cereals, tea, coffee, washing powder...... the list goes on. A fruit platter is also delivered daily to your balcony and all of this is complimentary.
I really can't add anymore to what the other reviewers have said. The Villas are a real credit to the lovely owners and we wish them great happiness and success in the future.
We will definitely be back.

We have been going to Rarotonga every year since falling in love with the island in 2005. We prefer the beach side villas for privacy and peace and have stayed at several amazing places previously. When we saw Cooks Bay being built we couldn`t wait unti our next holiday to try it out. In July-August 2012 we spent three perfect weeks in Villa 1 and to say it was everything we expected is an understatement. Tara, Shine and their family have thought of everything from the warmest welcome through to the 1am farewell (as we reluctantly boarded the bus for the airport) we wanted for nothing.
So many things have already been writen about this place so all I will add is that if you want the perfect place to stay and enjoy this amazing island look no further than Cooks Bay Villas. We love the place so much we have booked it out for a wedding in May this year and can`t wait to be back there again.

If you're coming with children to Raro you have to be aware that lots of resorts are adult only, not only the top few but even the 3/4 star ones. Some will allow you to stay, but not in the beach front rooms/villas. Come on, the thing about Raro is be right on the beach!

Shine and Tara, the two sisters that run Cooks Bay Villas, however run a great family oriented place. There are inflatable swimming toys around, buckets and shovels, plus a swimming pool, giving you an option taking into account that many small children's eyes may hurt from the sea saltwater. The cot they provided was extra large and Shine even put an extra mattress in. Just having traveled a couple weeks in OZ, we also had bought an extra mattress as the basic portacot mattresses are hard and your child may not sleep that well. Our son slept like an angel.

There are five ABSOLUTE beach front villas, very spacious, nicely furnished and fully self contained (well equipped kitchen). Tea, coffee (instant and ground), muesli and jams are provided and will be replenished for free. Upon checkin you also get toast, butter, milk and juice, plus of course the daily fruit platter. The two bedrooms have (very silent) aircon. In the back you have an outdoor shower, hot spa (that we never used given the heat, but runs permanently nonetheless) and a washing machine. The living room has two sofas, plus a recent Samsung TV/ DVD entertainment system, suitable for ipad (consult instructions though, not so easy).
Wlan is very expensive at 30 cents per MB, only for checking your mail really.

The spacious beachfront terrace has a dining table for six, sofa bed and sun lounger.

On the beach are more sun loungers, kayaks for free and every villa has its hammock. Snorkeling gear (great snorkeling right at your doorstep) and reef shoes (plenty of stones, rocks and further out corals, just look at the satellite view of google) are also for free. Shine even gave us reef shoes for our two year old.

Eating options are very limited, just one place for lunch really (the tropic weather will take away your hunger anyway), plus Vaima as beach front option for dinner. For breakfast you better stay in anyway. A reasonably well stocked supermarket is 200 m away.

Better stay here than spend a couple days in Aitutaki. Beaches are the same there. Only one hotel in lagoon, not worth it - see my review. Best just to book one day roundtrip.

We are still here but I Just couldnt wait to get home to write a review for Cooks Bay Villas. we have had the most amazing holiday here and we are just back from a wander on the beach with my two girls and husband after being able to cook a lovely meal in the great kitchen. everything from the on site management by Simon, Shine, Tara and the team through to the pool the cleanliness and great beds we are going home so well rested.

As a wedding planner of 10 years in Christchurch and from seeing first hand what wedding venues are available here in Raro I can say without doubt that a wedding held at Cooks Bay would be unique high end and a cut above the rest. they are boutique and as such arent going to advertise this overtly so do get in touch with them about a small or larger wedding at Cooks Bay. Off to bed for another day split between the amazing beach and pool and the cafe down the road with dinner at Vaimas later.

Room Tip: All five villas are brilliant

Fantastic spot, beautiful views and excellent facilities. Spent 6 nights recently with friends enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Great to be able to breakfast when you felt like it and cook our own meals if the need or desire arose. Very close to the local shop for any purchases needed. A couple of great restaurants within walking distance too. Really interesting snorkelling just straight out from the villas. Well thought out building plan, with access to outside shower straight off the path from the beach then directly into the bathroom without having to trek sand through the villa.
