Our host was warmly welcoming and willing to bend over backwards to fulfill our personalized desires.

Our room was for 2+1 and was spacious (see photos); our friends' room for only 2 was smaller.

Our bathroom was less than perfect: vintage but clean bathroom floor, shower pan, and toilet. The shower head didn't stay on the wall bracket because they were different models; since I am 5'2", I was able to lean the shower head on the bracket + the wall-mounted soap container, but my husband is taller so he had to hold the shower head with one hand. Operating the shower doors, to bring the left and right sides together, required careful attention otherwise they got misaligned and stuck. The sink and faucet looked new. All plumbing worked fine.

Noisy traffic, noisy other guests.

No fridge, no hairdryer, no TV, no wifi, no problem for me.

Breakfast was the standard spread (coffee, milk, juice, bread, cheese, eggs--with spinach and feta for me), served on the terrace, two car lengths from the sea.

I would stay there again for the reasonable price, sufficient essentials, walking distance to many choices of restaurants, and easy drive to Paklenica Nat'l Park. My guess is that any other lodging along the coast road would be as noisy. We tried to reserve a stone cottage in the hamlet at the park entrance, but it had a 7-night minimum, and we wanted to stay only 2 nights.

The Good: available via HRS, right on the sea front, great sea view, airco, restaurant terrace, kids discounts, speaks English, parking
The Bad: forget the HRS promise of fresh fruits and cocktail, uninterested staff, parking between terrace and sea, beds too short, no credit cards, absolutely no style
The Ugly: smelly bathroom, no lights in stairs.
Starigrad is not the classy Croatian resort.
