“Huge meat feast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2014 via mobile

So after a long hard days walking in the Paklenica NP we went to Kiko for dinner. Mainly because is was just next to where we were staying and the smell coming off the grill was incredible. We were after a good feed and boy did we get one. We had the meat grill for 2 and it was huge ! Also very good. I would recomend highly.

Lovely spot at seaside. Swimming and lying in the on sunbeds is possible directly on own courtyard. Very good location for car-/motorholidays; parking is available on own courtyard. Hospitable family. Fantastic food. Super clean rooms, good beds.

Room Tip: Lovely view on the third floor (but no elevator).

Stayed in May using it as the base for Paklenica Park. The Bura winds were blowing on some days other days were fine. Took one of the two top floor balcony rooms looking out to sea. Large bedroom with an outside wrap around balcony. Exceptional views on clear days of still water other days the bay was whipped up. The bathroom was also suitably excellent with a rain shower.

Breakfast was good and contained home made treats. Dinner was exceptional and was cooked by the host's wife. So real local home cooking. For veggies there are options so the meat was good but the veggie partner was equally pleased with the veggie options. We did eat in every day since the weather was rough at night and the food in any case was excellent. They do also cook to order if you can't find an option or want a variation.

Eating outside is possible and the pension contains it's own mini harbour / bathing. The host's daughter speaks very good English and is hotel trained - so essentially runs it for her parents doing the customer English facing bit. The host (Dad) speaks German but not English. Other staff are employed and all are friendly.

Wifi is free and does cover the hotel. They had just completed upgrading it when we were there. Parking is easy enough and is of course free.

The actual entrance to the park requires a drive so you need a car unless you intend to walk about the lower parts of the park. One suspect that the park gets very busy in summer.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room at the top looking out to sea - it's worth it.

We had a lovely stay at Pansion Kiko. The family will go a long way to help you - directions to the Paklenica park office or in the restaurant catering for a fussy vegetarian.

You can hear the sea from your hotel room and the restaurant.

We would stay again.

This hotel is family run in a beautiful location. The staff was amazing and so friendly. It was a personal experience and very relaxed. They want you to have a great experience. When we were greeted the manager knew us by name. Great costumer service. They have a restaurant as well with delicious food. We ate there both nights on the deck looking out at the Island of Pag. We had a room overlooking the water with a huge deck. They have a private waterfront to sit and relax at. We snorkelled in front of the hotel. The room was very modern and equipped. The bed was comfortable. It was the perfect place for us to stay!!! I highly recommend it!!!

Room Tip: Room facing the water. All floors 2-top (4th or 5th floor) have amazing views.

Welcoming staff, especially Martina. Lovely location, with backdrop of mountains & frontage to the sea. Staff always happy to help & very nice homely atmosphere. Both nights the dinners were exceptional & there was never a request too hard for Martina to execute! Will definitely recommend this establisment to anyone that wants to visit the Velebit mountains - perfect location, sensational staff & awesome atmosphere.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have fabulous views, but no lift, so be prepare to walk the 3 flights of stairs.

Martina, the proprietor couldn't have been more knowledgeable and helpful. Her family has lived in the immediate area for generations. All her advice about the times to hike different trails at Paklenica National Park were right on. Directions, resources like banks, grocery stores, best highways, Martina is a local and happy to help.

The food was so good we ate dinner multiple times! And we've been in the region for 4 weeks so we know our Dalmation food. Try the seafood platter for two. If you have dietary restrictions, just ask. They aim to please. And the setting in the patio peaking over the beach was lovely.

We loved the setting on the beach and our room with a view of it. We even had a small balcony with chairs. The rooms have a good amount of space. We were on the second floor (3rd for Americans) with no elevator but they were happy to help with our bags.

If I had a nit it would be the lack of very hot water and water pressure at the hottest temps.
