Four elderly gentleman went for lunch at the Kew gardens Hotel. It was outstanding. The restaurant has really improved since the hotel was recently renovated and we were served efficiently by the excellent waiter.

For starters we had Arbroath Smokie in a creamy sauce with spinach, potato and poached egg (sadly for me the yolk was solid) but otherwise delicious; very good tempura fried vegetables and a nice looking tuna tartar. We then had very tasty mussels, well prepared, with chips and one of us had good rabbit fettucini and we finished with good coffee and char grilled pears.

The beer is very good and the Vin de Pays d'Oc was very good.

The whole meal was £32 per head and was really worth it.

It is a good local restaurant but is also ideal for people coming by train and walking to the botanic gardens

Room Tip: We ate in the restaurant but the rooms have recently all been renovated. This hotel is very conveni...

I was invited to lunch here last week and I'm very glad I was. I ate pasta which had a beautiful creamy mushroom sauce and was delicious to the last mouthful. The wine was recommended by the staff and complimented both mine and my friend's meals perfectly.
The staff were all very courteous and helpful whilst the manager was never seen without a smile on his face.
A wonderful lunch and one I hope to repeat!!

The pub downstairs is great. Food and service was fantastic. A young girl served me who was very friendly and reccomended some really great dishes. Atmosphere was also very good. Busy but also relaxed and staff were friendly and welcoming.

Check in was very easy. Great to have a dedicated check in person. was very surprised to see as I arrived late.

Room was fantastic. Some really nice touches. Nespresso machine. IPod dock with Bluetooth so could use my iPad to play some music aswell. Have found it annoying when hotels have iPhone docks that can only take iPhone 4.

Bed was extremely comfortable. Was late to my meeting because i couldnt get out of it.

I stayed in room 4 which had a little balcony. Highly recomended.

Breakfast was very good and included in the price. Even got a coffee to dash off with.

Overall a very short stay but will be back very soon.

As a local....Following the re-furb.....the bar is lighter, airier.....maybe a bit more gastro? Nevertheless staff are top drawer and keen to please, the food still as well presented as ever, a tad expensive but ample portion size....well worth a visit.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn @ Kew Gardens for one night in order to watch the England/New Zealand game at Twickenham which was the ideal location. It's one stop from Richmond on the Tube but quiet enough to get away from it all after the match. The restaurant food was fantastic and the staff extremely polite and attentive. It was the first night open since the re-furb so there was an air of nervous energy about the place that allowed for some silly slip ups and confusions but otherwise it was good. They had planned for Rugby visitors so it was good to see that rooms were ready early in order to deal with early check-ins. Breakfast was nice with a simple buffet table of fruit and cereal, whilst you could order cooked items from the waiter, all included in the price. Overall, this was good value for a London hotel (although I was told we had been given the pre-refurb rate which was £50/night less) and the ideal place for a trip to the Rugby. Would def stay again.
