“Pretty expensive and unbelievably NOISY!”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

Good food - not overly impressed but the simple things were done well. No great cheffery with the sea bass, and the pizza was a bog standard, er, pizza.

What did surprise me was the NOISE LEVEL which made conversation impossible. Even for an Italian, it was unbelievably raucous in there.

The bill was a bit over the top too. Two mains, two desserts, two drinks £60 is a bit pricey for High Street Italian.

“Not the usual standard ”
Reviewed July 5, 2014 via mobile

Visited with family last night and left disappointed. We regularly eat at both branches of El Castello and have always been happy to leave a positive review but on this occasion the quality of steak was poor (both Ribeye and Fillet), the childrens cheesy pasta was dry and the service wasn't great with wrong meals being delivered to the table and empty glasses being ignored.

To be fair, the manager/owner was very apologetic and explained that he had a new chef and was trying a new meat supplier and as a good will gesture removed the cost of the steaks from our bill (he also kindly offered to replace them but we declined as didn't want to be wasteful). In contrast, the other 3 meals were all to a very high standard.

We generally love the food at El Castello but in this occasion we left disappointed. We were due to go back this week but will leave it 2 or 3 weeks and hope the changes being made eventually settle down.

“Never had a bad meal”
Reviewed June 20, 2014 via mobile

Having been to El Castello twice before it was an obvious choice to go for a company meals. I have tried pizza, pasta and the risotto and I can highly recommend it all. The lunch time menu is fab for the time poor that want a delicious meal or to grab a light bite whilst watching the world go by.

A must visit in a beautiful location. Service and the food is excellent.

Outstanding food, wine and service for our party of 10 including two small grandchildren. El Castello continues to be an exceptional and authentic Italian restaurant. Thank you.
