Table booked for 9 as part of a family wedding anniversary celebration. Drinks order taken quickly but took 15 minutes to appear. The staff forgot to take a food order and it took 30 minutes before we managed to get our order in.

The food was tasty but everyone was ravenous by the time it arrived (we had been in the pub over an hour). One of the puddings was missing so everyone else had finished by the time it arrived.

The grumpy man on the till couldn't find our bill (probably explains the huge queue of people waiting to pay) and ended up closing someone else's.

The 20% off voucher and tasty food earned this a Poor instead of Awful score.

Two of us planned a walk along the canal at 10am on a Saturday and then into the Waterwitch at 1100 when it open....er what time? We returned to the Waterwitch at 11am and the place was shut tight, not a soul to be seen!!
Another bad mark against this place. As the land lady once told a friend of mine..."we are a Chef and Brewer pub but we can do what we like"...Yep you sure do and you do it badly.

Coming home along the M3 decided a bit of lunch was required and remembered the Waterwitch from a few years ago. It was a sunny day so we sat in the garden which had very good facilities and was very large leading down to the river (no access).

All of our food was very good - although it didn't come that quickly - and we all enjoyed our meals. the seafood mezze was particularly good.

One thing that they had that Ive not seen in any other pub is blankets that you can take outside if you're feeling cold - a good touch

4 of us visited after signing up to their club on the website, we were each sent a voucher for a free dessert or starter when bought with a main meal.
On arrival it looked very tranquil and coupled with the good weather we thought we had made a good choice.
When ordering the food we enquired about our complimentary desserts, the voucher states that "showing the voucher on screen" is perfectly acceptable.
The staff were unhelpful and unsure, when enquiring, he duty manager who we believed was drinking alcohol on shift (not a good example to set staff) then informed us that only print outs were acceptable.
When ordering drinks at the bar the bargirl seemed annoyed at every little thing;
coke tap ran out of syrup,
"for god sake!"
Card machine ran out of paper, "for god sake!"
We then overheard the bargirl complaining to her colleague that she had had a customer complain about her being 'abrupt' 'and a bit rude. Well I'd say that customer was spot on.
Meanwhile, in the garden outside, it was half full, wasps EVERYWHERE!! This visit was no longer relaxing, what with those pesky wasps going for any food or drink it could find. Tables were dirty, they were not cleaned up efficiently, we didn't receive a check back to see if everything was ok, a failure to upswell as well. Overall i'd say this pub/restaurant could be extremely good, just need to teach staff the value of Customer service, however I suspect that's more down to the manager doing a poor job and setting a poor example.
Probably wouldn't return.
Chips were nice, burger was standard, my favourite was the salted caramel torte. I don't usually have desserts but that was magnificent, so good, that I went straight to a supermarket to find more!!

This pub has come under new management who have refurbished and open it up so that the ambiance is much lighter and brighter than previously. We went with a party of friends for lunch and found the food was excellent. There was a wide choice and the portions large! The staff were all very friendly and this pub has a nice atmosphere. There is a good outside seating area and the garden goes down the canal. We did have to wait for a while for the food but it was worth it!
We will definitely go to the Waterwitch again!
