“Best pool and friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2010

We were a party of 3 rooms. Ours was an Ocean view suite which hadn't been fully refurbished yet but was comfortable and had plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids. The other two rooms were deluxe ocean view and were fully refurbished and lovely. They were also quite big rooms. We loved the little touches like the curtains closed and beds turned down in the evening. Fresh flowers placed around the hotel everyday. If we needed anything else, the staff were more than happy to help, especially when it came to the children. We noticed that our pool was the nicest along the beach strip. Very family friendly hotel. It's in a good location with plenty of restaurants nearby. We recommend a little one called Sari. We had a wonderful stay.

We booked a suite for 3 people - way in advance of our arrival, and I had reiterated many times that there are 3 of us, just so there is no confusion.

Upon arrival we were told the room is ready and we were shown to our room, which is right at the end on the 3rd storey. And just as I feared, there was no extra bed set up, and everything was set up for 2 people. So we had to call housekeeping to get them to send the extra bed, extra everything.

The telephone conversation wasn't smooth because of language barrier (which I was hugely surprised) and also because the service staff at the other end just wasn't all that friendly nor helpful.

Eventually it was all set up, and then we saw the run down state of the room - the lounge chair's upholstery was fraying, some lamps didn't work, the TV remote doesn't work properly, door bell doesn't work, the 'service call' indicator doesn't work - just too many little hiccups to either overlooked or call housekeeping for.

Then spa - it was a let down - there was nothing nice, cozy, or relaxed about it. And service again was so lacking - they were not unfriendly, but just not very interested.

Food - well, everything was salty and just simply, not nice. And considering we were in a rather secluded area with limited choices for food venues, it was all very disappointing. At the hotel's Italian restaurant, we literally sat there, saw our food at the counter sitting there for a good 10 minutes before someone finally decided to bring them to us - by then it was cold, and the saltiness just didn't help.

The overall experience was quite a let-down, simply put.

Last march we traveled for the second time to Bali and staid as well for the second time at Aston Bali Resort. I can guarantee you, the people at this hotel know what customer service means!! We staid in one of there Ocean Front Suites which was amazing! it's high luxury level in the suite was like a small paradise on earth. The hotel is very clean, and all it's staff are very friendly. Unfortunately my wife became ill after 10 days and needed to stay in bed for a few days. During this kind of situations you can see what service means. They asked me every time if they could bring my wife something. So she got a light diner in the suite and even breakfast was served for the both of us without any sub charge. If you wanna stay in a safe, clean and with a high customer service level than I can recommend you Aston Bali Resort. Next of the hotel there are some nice restaurants located as well. Lovely beach, during the evening some entertainment and exact enough, not too much not too less. A beachbar which is opened entire evening.

We reached the hotel late in the evening and were told that for the 1st night we would be upgraded to a suite. We couldn't complain really but in hindsight the shifting of rooms the next day morning proved to be an irritant and the room allocated next day was smelly and worn out. So we again were forced to shift to another.
The hotel is good value for money, with lots of eating options just outside.
The pool is nothing great really, as compared to what we had read from earlier reviews. The water wasn't clean at all.
If you are really looking for a 4 or 5 star experience, you may want to look at other options as well. However, you would not go completely wrong with Aston in any case.

The first time we stayed at the Aston - December 2009, my husband I were amazed at how picture perfect the resort is and how wonderful the staff and facilities are. The big, clean and well serviced rooms well and truly met our expectations.
The local shops and restaurants serve the area of Tanjung Benoa well. The Kodak moneychanger is very reliable - on the same side as the Ason (turn left when you go onto the street and keep going for about ten minutes). If you would like a relaxing stress-free holiday the Aston is the place to be. No matter what facilities you are using:restaurants, pool, gym, room service, etc are spot. Room service prices are reasonable and always available. The staff are friendly, willing to answer your questions and make sure you have everyting you need. The second time was ditto. The third time, we received a really warm welcome and even though the weather was unseasonally wet we had a realloy enjoyable time with all the usual friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Needless to say we are looking forward to our next holiday in November.

We arrived at the hotel at about 1:30am after spending a long time at the airport. We were advised that we were able to still order room service which we did which was great (Their Brushetta is fantastic). The room was huge with plenty of space, large bathroom and bed was massive (two queen size beds pushed together). We did not eat much at the hotel but did try the international buffet night and found the food to be fantastic. We also ate a meal at the Bali Luna restaurant which was also great. We did not eat at the hotel much as we found there was no atmosphere at the hotel at night as most people seemed to eat out at the many restaurants across the road which are cheaper.

The toilet did smell of sewerage on occassion and did get quite bad at times but luckily we did not spend much time in the room. On closer inspection there was also mould in the bathroom and stains on the sheets but I have seen worse. I did not like the location of the hotel as although it is a quick drive to Kuta it took us about 2hours to get to Ubud and the Elephant safari. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was great.

We had one spa treatment at the hotel which was good however we found a cheaper and just as good service down the road which we utalised more.

Overall it is a good hotel and we had an enjoyable holiday.

we were welcomed with a lovely refreshing drink on arrival & towel, our room wasnt ready upon arrival but staff were super friendly. we had lunch while we waited for room to be ready & enjoyed the meals greatly.
in the end our room was never available as the resort was fully booked & due to booking 6 months in advance we were upgraded to the presidential suite which was amazing, beautiful balcony, deck chairs, living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms & incredible view of the ocean/beach. cocktails were great too
would definitely go back.
