What a wonderful hotel. The rooms were larger than the average rooms at other hotels. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Changed it up every day and never got tired of the food. We did not go the all inclusive option, as we wanted to get out and about every day and explore, but I can see how that would be ideal for those just wanting to hang around the pool or the beach all day. Not many Australians staying, mostly Europeans. Also mostly singles and couples. Very few families, and families with very young children. The best part was the service. On the day of our departure, I had inadvertently left a very treasured package in the foyer when I picked up the rest of our luggage. When I reached the airport (7hrs later as we had a day tour) and realised it was missing, I rang the hotel, who had the package and drove it all the way to the airport for me (took about 1hr) so I could take it home with me on the plane. Talk about going above and beyond! The location of the hotel was right on the beach, however it would be a short taxi ride to other shops or restaurants. But taxi's were EVERYWHERE and it only cost about AU$2 to take one for 10min. I would recommend this hotel.

I've just had a very enjoyable 7 night stay at the Melia Benoa. The resort is well situated on Nusa Dua Beach and is what I would describe as an intimate personalised type of place. It has a lovely garden with beautiful water features filled with all sorts of fish and turtles.

I was lucky enough to score a great deal staying in an Executive Suite on a Gold All Inclusive basis. The room was huge, comfortable, stylish and even had a second toilet/powder room. There was a nice sized couch and armchair in the room in addition to a full size desk. Everyday your room is returned to a spotlessly clean state by the ever accommodating house keepers.

This deal included basic mini bar every day, four pieces of laundry per person per day and several welcome perks such as a gift, deluxe welcome drink, flowers and sparkling wine in our room. These touches made us feel very special and above all else, welcome. The bed was a comfortable extra-large king. We also had a complimentary one hour massage thrown in. Whilst not the greatest massage, it was still a nice perk.

All inclusive means exactly that, we didn't have to spend a cent during our stay as all meals, drinks and snacks were included.

The staff are so friendly and seem to be genuinely pleased to see you each day and nothing was ever too much trouble for them.

The variety of food was excellent with everything being fresh and tasty. Breakfast each morning was served in the bright and spotlessly clean El Patio restaurant. Highlights included the tasty coffee and fresh tropical fruit each day. We had a choice of having lunch either at El Patio or the seaside/poolside Menega restaurant. It was so nice to sit and eat with a great view of both the pool and ocean. In the evening you had a choice of dining at El Patio or the fine dining restaurant. Dinner also took place outdoors on a few occasions. All of the meals we had in each venue were great.

The swimming pool, whilst not large, was great for the size of the resort. We could always find a spot to lounge around the pool. The swim up bar is also a nice touch. On the other side of the bar are the ever smiling bartenders who were always pleased to see you. Our deal included unlimited drinks, so we made good use of the pool bar. We also used the bar upstairs in the lobby on several occasions. There was always a lovely cool breeze up there.

The Melia Benoa is situated on a lovely part of the beach with a safe area roped off for swimmers. There's plenty of sun lounges with umbrellas for you to use. We spent a lot of time down there and in the ocean. Truly a magic part of Nusa Dua.

Bali Collection is within easy reach either by taxi or on foot along the beach.

The hotel has a decent gym which we used on several occasions. It’s equipped with a good range of cardio machines, free weights and an all-purpose weight machine.

We were very sad to leave the Melia Benoa and can't wait to return. It’s the most enjoyable place we've stayed in Bali. Kudos to the Melia Benoa team, you did such a great job of looking after us that we have been a bit depressed ever since we left the resort.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a garden/pool view.

We stayed at the Melia Benoa in September 2012.

We found the hotel, service and staff to be excellent.

The restaurants are good, although we would say the menus a little limited, we were not on the all inclusive package so ate out most ot the time, but when we did eat in the hotel we found the food to be of a very high standard.

The day beds that are spread around the hotel are great as you can just lay around listening to the birds, breeze and sea without a care in the world.

Would definately go back again

Have read some of the reviews that have been left and can only think they were staying at a different hotel as we only have good things to say about it.

We were here for three nights and loved every minute of it. There was a great range of facilities, everything was very clean and the staff were very helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend this resort for those who are after a chilled out location away from Kuta.

Paid for the all inclusive package. Room was average, food was average and limited selection. Music blasts through the entire resort from lobby every night until 11pm. Annoying if you want to go to bed earlier.

We booked a Blue All-Inclusive stay through Flight Centre and, due to dates etc., travelled outbound with Virgin Australia to Bali and JetStar for our return. All flights and transfers went like clockwork.

We arrived at the Melia Benoa, which is situated on a very typical bustling road and was welcomed with a refreshing drink, quickly booked in and shown to our room. The room was very spacious, but a bit tired and in need of an upgrade, but perfectly adequate. We never found out why there was an additional telephone in the toilet, and it was a bit unusual to take a call there from the reception. Our room overlooked a craft market at the side of the hotel, but still very private.

The greatest asset of the hotel is definitely the staff, as they were without fault very polite, hardworking and eager to please. This cannot be understated. The staff worked hard to make Christmas enjoyable, although got a bit carried away as the piped seasonal music playlist you heard everywhere just kept on going. The compilation of sing-along Christmas classics, including The Power of Love (?) and Mull of Kintyre (??) never did stop, and as we left nearly a week after the big day, Chris Rea was still Driving Home For Christmas! Someone should tell him he's too late.

The food available in restaurants is either a la carte or buffet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was excellent with plenty of choice. The restaurants are The Amarta for a la carte dinner, Le Patio for a la carte lunch, buffet breakfast and dinner and The Menega, located near the beach, offers buffet lunch and dinner.

The swimming pool area is good sized with lots of loungers, and a plentiful supply of towels, but shade is only available from trees that partly surround the area. This fact then brings out the worst in people by putting towels on beds early on. There were at least two days where several beds lay unused all day with towels on until owners returned from a trip out or suchlike. The old joke about Germans is a bit stale now as the British and Aussies do their bit to take Teutonic title. Perhaps we were unlucky, but when we managed to get loungers in a shady area, it was like a scene from the movie Marabunta! with a full frontal ant attack. We escaped to the beach only to be attacked by sand flies. Such is life.

The beach is safe, clean and well-kept with plenty of loungers and either hard shade or umbrella type shade. The towel-on-lounger problem did not exist here as there was enough to go around. The swimming area is buoyed-off and "D" shaped providing a very safe place for all ages. Stick to this area to avoid the perennial nuisance - the jetski. There are locals who will try and sell you a Rollux watch or maybe some tops by Timmy Bowfinger or George Armonio. A polite "No thanks" is always met with good grace.

To sum up, we had a great stay at the Melia Benoa, made possible thanks to the staff providing very good service and food. An investment by the owner, whose portrait hangs in the lobby bar with the curious hand signal, or the Melia Group in a series of room and equipment upgrades is needed otherwise the resort will get too tired looking, when compared to some of the competition further along the coast.

I stayed here for 4 night with 3 executive rooms, the rooms are excellent, service was good, the only thing bother me, they let some Caucasian smoking on the bar pool where they said to me I can't smoke in the pool area? I was like... What the F****, my suggestion for management Melia Benoa, Don't underestimate domestic tourist!! If you support free smoking environment , that should apply to every single guest, no exception!
