“Different strokes..... etc”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

My Sakala experience .... I sat outside Friday night and although it was windy I enjoyed a sangria while the sunset. ( no by the glass Champagne or decent wine.... the woes of a solo traveler! I contemplated on the strange surroundings and came to the conclusion that there must have been a number of architects that came and went during the construction. Inside I went for dinner... I was the only guest. Intimate is not a word you could associate with Sakala. Le Grande Warehouse would be more accurate. Staff pleasant. No cool refresher towel... no drink coaster or napkin... drip drip drip all over silk dress. BUT ..... the food was outstanding! Bravo! Escoffier & Bocuse revisited!
The food deserves a finer restaurant setting.

Has anybody been to Sakala for tapas? If not, you must go!
The beautifully presented tapas were mouth watering. We chose five and found it was adequate for a light lunch. Together with a mocktail - a divine Bali Passion, we came away feeling we must return.

“Best meal in a long time”
Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

Our compliments to the Québécois chef and the dining staff, particularly Putra for a memorable dining experience - our three courses - foie gras, tortellini then lamb and duck foie gras and dessert were really tasty. Breezy night in Bali, but could not resist taking choosing to take in the beautiful beach view. Enjoy!

“Poor”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

After visiting this restaurant I'm convinced the tripadvisor reviews are loaded with fake positive reviews from the business owners.

While Sekala has the top notch design and the good staff you would expect from an expensive restaurant, the food was poor. 4 dishes all looked great but tasted less than 2nd rate.

Added to that, this meal for 2 cost over 200usd, which was much higher than the cost of a meal for two at most of the finest restaurants in the Seminyak area.

I can only guess that the management decided to load up on the prices thinking that customers who have come to this remote location would be too inconvenienced to look for a better place after getting there. Not sure if that strategy is working as the restaurant is also one of the most empty places I've seen of late.

“Dining extravaganza!”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

If you enjoy fine dining in scenic sophisticated surroundings, then this restaurant should be top of your list of restaurants to visit while in Bali. We dined at Sakala last night for dinner after having tapas for lunch the day before, and are so glad we did. From the warm, friendly greeting to the knowledgeable and attentive staff, especially from our waiter, Eddie, we were made to feel welcome and relaxed. The came the food! Only the very best local and imported ingredients are used, cooked and presented to perfection! Absolutely delicious! The serves are generous, with complimentary appetisers, house made breads and butter an added treat. We sat outside in big, comfy chairs, overlooking the beach on a beautiful balmy evening, and yes, you can read the menus, as they are illuminated. The cocktails are uber cool too! Go on, treat yourselves, you will love it!
