“Bunny Bali Great Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014 via mobile

The food was great, however if your not a fan of spicy food, make sure to explicitly ask to hold the spice.
Had possibly the best pork ribs of my life. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone.

The service was excellent, when you walk through the door, all the kitchen and wait staff greet you in unison and make you feel extreamly comfortable.

All together this was a great dining experience and will deffinatly return.

Thank mullygogo

“Delicious local cuisine in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

My sister and I ate lunch here, we unfortunately did not plan ahead and so we were unable to take the cooking classes. The food was ridiculous. And by ridiculous I mean ridiculously AMAZING. Tons of food for the price, the actual restaurant is gorgeous and relaxing, staff is extremely friendly. We absolutely loved the experience.

“Not just a cooking school!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014 via mobile

Bumbu Bali is not just a cooking school, they also operate as restaurants. There are Bumbu Bali 1 and Bumbu Bali 2. I had lunch at 1 and went to 2 a few days later for dinner.

Both restaurant service excellent food. Bumbu 1 is small, and it is connected to their bed and breakfast. Their satay is very good.

Bumbu 2 is bigger and very bright. We were there on a Sunday night and they even have people performing Bali dance and music.

I would go back to the restaurants, if I am back in Bali again. Just great food.

“Excellent food - A highlight of Bali”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

My pickup was at 6:10 in the morning but worth the early wake up call. Our morning started at the market. We had a brief explanation regarding fruits, vegetables and chickens. We walked through the market (wear comfortable shoes). Our next stop was the fish market. He explained about the different fish and how to tell if it was fresh. Our leader for the day was Heinz. He had one rule that he wanted us to follow and the rule was every time you sit down sit next to someone you do not know. His words were "mingle, mingle". After the fish market we went to the cooking school and had breakfast. We had fruit and some pastries. The drink was a fresh juice I think it was mango. It was frothy and yummy. Next on to the cooking school. Over 20 different dishes were made. Everyone in the class had a chance to contribute to the cooking of the food. A few of the dishes took longer to cook so they were made first such as the roast chicken. After the cooking was done we all sat together to enjoy our efforts. It is now 6 hours after the meal and I am not hungry. A tip - bring your appetite. This is well worth the money. There were cookbooks, spices and the apron to purchase. Heinz and Bagus were very entertaining. A must to do in Bali.

“Highlight of Our Bali Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

The initial thought of a 6:00 a.m. pick-up time was daunting, but our entire family was game. We had already eaten twice at the restaurant and loved the food. We were now ready to learn how to prepare what we had eaten.

The day started with a breakfast at the market consisting of different pastries, plus coffee or tea. Heinz then took us through one market place before driving us to the fish market where he passionately lamented about the over fishing that has destroyed the local fish supply.

We returned to the restaurant after the fish market. There, we had a second breakfast of juice, fresh fruit, and more pastries.

Throughout the cooking lesson, we were provided with limeade and tastings of the food that we were preparing. I am relieved that we could be as hands-on or hands-off as we wished during the cooking process. Heinz and his assistant entertained us with stories as we worked. By the end of the class, our group of 13 strangers had bonded. Already stuffed, we sat down to feast on our efforts. We all stuffed ourselves, but there was as much food left over as what we consumed.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable event that we shared as a family - suitable for all ages. If we return to Bali, we would definitely take the class again. We will also make sure to bring used clothing for Heinz to distribute.

For those who are hesitant to spend $100 per person for this cooking class, it is a bargain! Just do it!
