The tour to Turtle island sounds like a very pleasant thing to do. You may think you are going to be able to swim with turtles in their natural habitat, well, you won't. After a 15 minute boat ride out to the island (which i think is just part of the mainland) allows boats to pull in next to a dirty old bar. You go in and see that they have some sectioned off areas with different sized turtles in tanks. They wil man handle the large turtle to try and get a photo which they will later try and sell you and apart form being able to pick up some smaller turtles (which was cool) the whole experience feels tacky and anything but natural for the poor turtles. They have a handful of other animals in cages that they will get out for you including a large python that my girlfriend really didn't like. Next you will be asked if you want to eat and drink to make money for the facility, DO NOT EAT THERE. The cleanliness of that place could not be worse. You will then be asked to make a donation - its purely a con plain and simple. I wish id read a review and made the choice not to go. I hope the work they do is helping rejuvinate the turtle popluation but after seeing the place i have my doubts. If you care about the turtles make a donation to a recognised conservation website and save yourself the awkward trip to turtle island.
